Gas Leak beside tank??

Hey guys I need some help. Under the car, beside the gas tank on the driver side there is a plastic cover. When this cover is removed you can see fuel lines going into some sort of device that looks like a small pump or maybe a vapor container or something, I do not know what this is!

Anyway 3 lines seem to come off it. 2 rubber lines that appear to lead to or from the tank, and 1 metal line that goes for less then six inches and is bolted to the underside of the car. This third go-nowhere line is leaking gas like crazy! It is dripping down from where this thing goes into the device and getting everywhere. I thought that mayme my tank was leaking but when I investigated the situation, this is what I found! I have attached a picture of this thing and I am hoping that someone can help me out before I get to the mechanic stage, If there is somthing I can get to chnge this thing let me know.

What year car?
What model of car.

Oh sorry guys! It’s a 1990 2 Door GS

I do not remember every seeing this under my 91 but I do have factor books and will look when I get home tonight.

The bolted line is the main fuel line that goes to the fuel filter / fuel rail / engine. Looks like the return line has been cut and a new hose added.

Lines are :
Main out
Return
Evap (red hose)

Well you would not see this right away. There is a plastic cover that first has to be removed before this section is visible. I have no idea what this could be…

Hey 2ndJenn, you are right! It is the “RETURN LINE” that is leaking. upon further examination I realized the the pipe bends above and appears to be broken or not connected, but it is! And the canister like thing is just the body of the car where the fuel lines enter the cabin before being routed forward to the engine compartment. The leak is happeneing rith at the pint where the outside undercar metal line meets th inside car line… Any thoughts on how to repair this guys or is this a shop job only at this point??

Thanks for all the help!

Wow, you must live where there is salt on the roads because that is some nasty corrosion. It looks like that little section of piping can be replaced fairly easily, I hope that you can purchase that from the dealer. If not, maybe it would be possible to cut out the leaking portion and replace with hose. BE CAREFUL, don’t forget that gas is very dangerous to work around. Don’t let a dumb friend smokin a blunt crawl up under there, lol.

Ya… I line in Toronto Ontario CANADA! The winder here is like nothing you can imagine if you live in sunny CA or FL. Corrosion kills cars up here :gunleft: !

I just bought a intergra … same model and everything … I have the same problem… Did you fix yours?

bringing this back alive…my db1 has now the same issue…any one have any idea what those three lines are called coming down from the grommet? If someone can post a pic from the acura oem parts and the number that would be awesome and very helpful.

Thanks
