Gauge cluster swap questions.

Well first off i’m really suprised more people don’t do any gauge swaps in the G2 other then maybe a S2000 cluster. Are there any other swaps that you guys might know about? Ive searched here,honda-tech and a couple other forums. It’s actually kind of odd.

So what are some things needed to convert from the speedo cable to electronic one?
Or what other problems occur with a gauge swap?

Reason being is that the car I just bought has some ugly indiglo gauges already installed and i’m wanting to give it a upgraded look.

I use to own a 03 EM2 and I really like that cluster. It seems like as far as size/design that it should work. But what else might I need to get the digital odometer to work correctly?

Any help/knowledge would be appreciated.Thanks

I’ve seen DC2 gauges as well as S2000. “G2 Racer” has been working on an S2000 cluster swap recently.

I personally don’t like any of these swaps, why bother going through all of that work when the stock gauges work and fit perfectly. They match the rest of the car, imo any other gauge will look horribly out of place. It won’t match your other buttons and controls. And getting the cluster itself to have the fit/finish of the stock ones is going to be next to impossible unless you’ve been doing custom automotive interior fabrication for 10yrs.

Personally there’s nothing better than stock a 92-93 GSR or XSI gauge cluster

Honestly I agree with Colin.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my S2000 cluster (I will have a write up shortly after New Years, promise) but I’ve put a lot of money and time into it.
I’ve got over 20 hours into figuring out the Integra cluster wiring and then making my wiring harness (and it not even that nice of a harness). Plus all the time to solder and convert things over, plus searching for parts.
I haven’t even started to work on my trim pieces for the cluster yet.

Any none DA cluster (unless you use an EF cluster) will require a electronic VSS. The S2000 requires a speedo converter on top of that.

No jdm clusters for me. Ha I dont want to mess with trying to remember what speed i’m going in kph.

Has nobody seen any other kind of swaps?Ive seen the DC2 and the S2K. Both look different.

I’m pretty sure the EM2 cluster is the same size/shape. So no need for dash refabrication.

My stock 5th gen cluster imo even looks better then the stock 90-91 cluster.
Ive done a 97-02 cluster swap in my accord. Just recently went back to stock. But i’m probably going to swap in a CL cluster next.

But I really like the l.e.d needles in the 02-05 civic. I think it would look good in the car.

There has to be somebody in here that has thought outside the box.LOL
I’m not worried about the work involved. Just need some more information.

This is what I want to put in. Just to give you an idea.

You don’t need to keep the k/hr… You can use a usdm or cdm vtec cluster. Or if you get a jdm cluster you can just swap your speedometer into that cluster. No need to keep the entire cluster as it came from the factory, you can take any of the DA clusters and just swap gauges. If you can find a higher rpm tach you can just swap it into your cluster. OR you can take your stock cluster and swap in a higher RPM tach.

Again, absolutely zero reason to change to a cluster from another car. The only reason I consider to be a good one is that you have swapped a higher revving engine into your car and you need a tach which reads higher… Why ruin the beauty of the stock cluster?

my dreamy stock cluster!!!

/\ /\ JDM or Canadian? I like the different light pictures. What’s the one that looks like it has smoke coming off it for? The middle pic, top right.

I would’ve converted the speedo to USDM, but whatever. I probably won’t do this mod seeing as my B20 doesn’t EVER need to go past 7K.

hahaha38: If you wanna “change it up a bit”, why not do the bulb swap? Here’s mine w/ red LEDS:

Looks blood red in person.

BTW- why do people always bitch about MPH/KPH conversions? They’re BOTH on the gauge for cryin’ out loud! Who really drives @ EXACTLY the speed limit anyway?

:getsome::manual:

Corniest quote ever: “Get yours today! JDM is IN!”

Maybe its just that the jdm GSR cluster that I have is different? It only has kmh.

There is no JDM GSR cluster. In japan there was an “XSi” model which came with a cluster with the higher redline.

US clsuters will have mph and jdm (as well as clusters from other countries) will have kilometers/hr. But as stated you can take the mph speedometer from your US cluster and install it into a JDM cluster. Or you can take a JDM tach and install it into your USDM cluster.

Well xsi then.LOL. I also want one to match my automatic. The cluster I got is for a manual. ehh i’ll figure it out. Thanks for the help.

I’ve done a jdm itr cluster in my da. I liked the results, it just takes time to get it done right and to look stock. Ended up taking it out and selling the whole setup. Decided to keep my car mostly stock DD so it wouldn’t get jacked.

does anyone kno if a 92 gsr cluster will fit into my 90 rs? do they have different bezels from year to year?

It’ll fit… it’s a direct swap.

how bout a gen3 type r tach in a 92-93 cluster? anychance?

Not a direct fit. It would definitely require some modifications, probably electrical, structural, and cosmetic.

I’ve always thought of upgrading the needles in the gauges to a 94+ LS or the gsr or itr for better look then our white solid look. Or just replace the gauge face onto our cluster? Idk maybe it is different size faces, but i will do the gauge needles for sure frmo a itr or frmo any other modern car i can get at the dealer if they do sell the parts alone. Kinda want to get one that is clear and can shine through the hole. probably looks good on a cluster that did the LED swap.

Any newer cluster will require you to install an electronic VSS.

I’ve got the S2000 cluster, search under my user name for the how to.

get the dc5 type r

hi i’m a newbie here. First off this site is awsome. Congrats.
I have a 91 ls special, my question is i wrecked my car about a year ago and have been very slowly fixing it back up so I can drive her again. the other day I started her up and notice that my cluster is melted. It’s only in the odometer part in the middle numbers. has anyone here every experienced this?
P.S. it’s wrecked in the pass side front and has wires messed up by where the headlight assembly goes.
Thanks all
