Hello g2ic, so I converted my car from auto to manual back in April…well anyways, my radio went bitch mode and quit working so i replaced the radio only to find that the previous owner had molested the wiring…(both red and yellow wires must all be connected for it to get power). Anyways thats beyond the point. So when I was installing the radio, my stupidity led me to cutting a plug that was down by the radio…It had a red wire, red/black wire, a blue/white wire and black wire. now ever since I cut this my gauge lights havent worked. I was wondering what I could do to fix this. I tried pigtailing multiple combinations of wires to get the lights on. Also, I know this plug has something to do with the instrument lights because when I grounded it, it blew the assigned fuse. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Red/black is illumination power
Red is illumination ground from Dash Lights Brightness Controller, [sometimes wrongly called a dimmer switch].
Blue/white, did you mean white/blue, is cigarette lighter power.
Black is ground.
Sounds like you cut the lighter plug leads.
It also sounds like the 12V+ constant fuse for your stereo is blown, “both red and yellow wires must all be connected for it to get power”.
If it is a G2 the stock 12V acc. is yellow/red, [fuse 22-10A] to red of aftermarket HU.
The white/blue is 12V constant, [fuse 14-15A] to yellow of aftermarket HU.
Here is a complete pinout for stock radio harness… http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.asp not shown is the red/black (K) illumination power, cap that one off, you do not need it. 94
