Hey guys.
So whenever I shift up into 3rd gear, it grinds so nasty. Only when shifting into 3rd gear and never when downshifting. Originally, I thought it was the shifter bushings because they were torn to hell. Today I replaced them but I'm still getting the 3rd gear grind.
Any ideas of what it could be?

Let me add that I just replaced the clutch not even a month ago.
Sounds like old synchros. Very common. Check out a company called synchrotech. They make carbon replacements that are better than stock, and cheaper I believe. I had the same problem put em in and it’s all better.

That will require complete teardown of the transmission… have you checked you fluid level?? if its full, I would recommend try running syncro mesh 2 in the tranny. this wont get rid of the grind but should help quite a bit and make it a little less noticable. if you want it to go away outright, that 3 gear syncro is gonna need to be replaced and if you in that deep, theres no point in just replacing 1 syncro… might as well replace #1 & #2 syncros as well as the old bearing while your in there($$$$$$$$)
Yeah, Ive gathered that by now. Im considering checking pull a part for another tranny with lower mileage. That or drop $1000 on a rebuilt one.
It would be cheaper to buy the synchros and have them installed. They come in kits 1-5 or 3-5 gear. Mine cost maybe 300 bucks to get done. That is synchros and install.
