i’m getting a code 20. anyone know what i can do about the ELD?? Thanks colin!
Gil, according to the ECU code chart I’m looking at, there is no Code “2”. What exactly are you getting at the ecu, how many long and how many short flashes?
Here are the code charts I’m looking at:
http://www.ff-squad.com/technet/ecu.codes.htm
http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/engine/13.html
Next question, do you have a Helms manual?
two slow flashes. at first, i was getting a code 41. all of a sudden, the code 2 flashes even while the o2 sensor was not connected. now, the code 2 problem is all that’s left. i am using a p30 ecu.
are you obd1?
yup. Colin, yes, i do have a helms manual. i looked at it and did not really understand the o2 sensor diagnosis process. maybe i need a new one? i may have wired it incorrectly, though.
Gil, you’re interpreting the codes incorrectly. A slow (or long) flash = 10 not 1.
Long Flash = 10
Short Flash = 1
For example:
LONG LONG SHORT = 21
SHORT SHORT SHORT = 3
etc…etc…
So you have a code 20, which is Electric Load Detector. I’ve never had any experiences with that code but for some reason I’m thinking the ELD is an OBD0 thing. Any chance you changed ECU’s recently? IIRC there is a difference between 90 and 91 integras. In one year the ELD is integrated into the ecu (i think 91) and in the other year it’s external (I think 90).
But please take that with a grain of salt and go do some research, I may be getting mixed up with something else, it’s been a long time since I looked at anything relating to the ELD… a LONG time…
Code 20
that’s right!!! duh!!! you think i would know that seeing as i figured out all the other codes! well, i did the obd0-1 conversion and am running a p30 ecu. maybe a wire is loose somewhere? i can’t even begin to imagine where an ELD is located in my car
EDIT: Busted!!! i guess my ecu is for an auto? i looked around and it seems as if the eld has something to do with an auto tranny? crap. anyone have any more info?
EDIT2: i guess my 91 doesn’t have an eld http://g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98968&highlight=code+eld I’m trying to get BAR’d. apparently it won’t come on if i take the jump off of the cel wire…? i guess i’ll see later today!
I thought the ELD had to do with the Alternator, not auto tranny… I did a little searching on google and H-T but didn’t find any decent answers. You may be able to find what you’re looking for with some more in depth searches, I just don’t have the time at the moment…
Good Luck Gil. And when you figure it out, please post your findings as there seems to be very minimal info on this subject.
Oh, and do you have another ECU to test? From my searches P30 came up a LOT, so maybe it somehow relates to something specific about that ECU.
yea, i’m hoping to get a freshly chipped p72 back from 2lowteg. hopefully he removed eld detection from the ECU. the searching i have done so far confirms that the eld has nothing to do with an auto tranny. my mistake!
so let me get this straight 1 long blink is code 10 right!!
:read:
just an update… this thread ends like all the others about the ELD. if you leave the jumper off, the CEL will not stay on for that code. problem fixed!
Check ingen light code
Can someone tell me what 7 short blinks+ 2 long blinks + 2 short?
What code would that be?
code 7 and code 22. look at colin’s example
