I’ve got a Milano Red integra right now and I want to get a paintjob soon and replace my hood and trunk with carbon fiber pieces. I love the red, I wanna keep the current color and just re-paint it so the inside of the door and the engine bay and stuff all matches. But if I throw a c.f. hood on a red car the color scheme is gonna look like shit. I don’t like the look of cf on white, yellow, bright red, or any lighter color cars.
If I get my cf pieces painted the same color as the rest of the car will the paint texture and finish look different? Is it smart to paint a cf hood? Do shops usually charge more for painting cf parts on a car?
My other option is to re-paint the car a completely different color, something that will blend in with the cf hood, like dark blue. Any suggestions for a good color that will match carbon fibre?
Burnt Orange. I found this link a little while ago. This is a 2001 Type R mind you, however, new teg or old teg, the fiber and orange (I think) looks freakin awesome.
It could be the tangerine orange from a JDM NSX. There is an S2000 in the latest issue of Honda Tuning using that color with a cf hood and black rims and it looks really nice, and let’s not forget that orange/black RX7 from Tokyo Drift! Orange is a bit too flashy for me personally though. It would attract way too much attention.
I wanted to go with black possibly because I thought it would blend in perfectly.
Right now I’m leaning strongly towards a dark blue.
I didn’t think the paint would weigh up to 25lbs! That would essentially defeat the whole purpose of trying to reduce weight, which is what I’m after. So I won’t be painting it.
I remember seeing on nopi tuner tv a few years back that people that want to paint carbon fiber hoods and stuff but still want to see the carbon fiber, you can have the painter spray the paint into the air and let it mist onto the part. It looked good on tv and until recently I just saw my first carbon fiber hood painted like this in real life at HIN in boston, it came out really nice…just an idea
Get Charcoal grey. Phantom Grey Pearl is a 92 Legend color. it’s nearly black, but since it’s a pearl, the color will change from deep grey to black; just like carbon fiber. Search the Articles & Teg tips forum. Titled. “Paint Info For Your Year” I think.
:getsome: :manual:
when he says it weighs 25lbs i think thats for the whole car. i kno now they are making color carbin fiber. looks kinda tacky but it might blend better.
don’t know about you, but to me carbon fiber looks good on everything. you could also paint your car another shade of red, maybe a darker red? that way the unpainted doorjams, etc… won’t look that bad. why do you think carbonfider on red doesnt look nice?? i think it looks hot, but thats just my take on it.
research member “ONE-R” and tell me what you think. if you have the nerve to say that his car looks like shit, you should be shot. his is a milano red gs-r with a carbon fiber hood and hatch. probably the second hottest teg on the planet.
and for color reference, here is a carbon fiber hood on captiva blue pearl
