getting screwed by Acura Dealer?

Okay so I’ve used the searched button on this forum a lot, and I came across a thread that said Lifetime seatbelt warranty.

http://g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23782&highlight=auto+seatbelt+fix

Since my 90 integra gs 4 door has the auto seatbelt, I was very happy to have read that Acura will fix it free of charge. So I called made an appointment for the service at Sunnyside Acura in NH. Came that day and they said diagnose and test to see whats going on with the seatbelts are about $200, I’m like “What the F***!!” So me and the guy was talking about the life time warranty on the seatbelts and he said it doesn’t apply to my car. I said your bulls*** and left. 1 hour drive for no damn reason!!!
Can someone help me out with this? please and thanks.

you didn’t ask why it didn’t apply to your car?

no, should I go to another Acura Dealer? Becauce I ask one local honda dealer and they say they don’t service Acuras:shrug:

i suppose you should, whats wrong with your seatbelt?

a.) whats wrong with your seatbelts?
b.) search again and you’ll find that there’s some fine print on the “lifetime” warranty part, something about it covers the seatbelt itself and not the mechanism that makes it work. but i dont remember exactly what, so search again one of those threads has it.
c.) you shouldve asked why it didnt apply to you car.

HTH

Did you end up paying the $200 or did you just left? If you paid, go back and get a receipt and then do some more research on the warranty then go to another dealer and see if they can reimburse you for the $200 plus the warranty.

Call Acura Customer Relations, tell them what happened, they’ll be able to get everything taken care of. Don’t listen what those dummies (people at the dealer) said, EVERYTHING is covered under the warranty

I just left when he said $200 dollars for diagnose

A.) its stuck at the door close position. So I have to eject the seat belt every time I go out.
B.) I will definitely search with more details.
C.) I just left without even thinking why.

Check to make sure your door sensor isn’t shorting out.
Like, see if its detecting that the door is actually shut/open.

Well if you mean by when I open the door, and the lights in the cluster for “door” lights up then it works fine for all 4 doors. Even the dome light, lights up

dude, i just went to my Acura Dealer last week to replace the seat belts in the rear. (left a battery in the trunk and it leaked battery acid all over my seatbelt stitching, and it ripped apart) i told em it was from normal wear and tear, ive never modified the seat belts and printed out that warranty i found on g2ic. and they said there gonna replace it free of charge, and gave me a courtesy Wash and Vacuum!!

ughh thats b***h up, Im going to take my car to another dealer.:mad:

yeah the only thing it doesnt cover is

This Warranty Does Not Cover:

Malfunction due to abuse, alteration, accidental damage or damage resulting from a collision, or misuse.

Replacement of a properly functioning seat belt because of cosmetic or comfort reasons

has the seatbelt assembly been modded in any way or has the car been in an accident?

I call Bull Shit on there second reason, do as stated and call acura’s customer relations.

Probably a bad relay. I have a similar problem with my car. If I reconnect the power to the motor mine will slide forward and stay in that position until you force it back. Open or close the door and back to the A pillar it goes, so fucking annoying. I don’t feel the need to fix it I just use the button so whatever. It’s another millisecond to get out of my car so, no biggie.

The thing they don’t cover is the wiring and the control box. The seatbelts, retractors, rails, and motors are covered.

If you can get it stuck in the open position then they have to fix them.
The whole point is if they’re safe to drive with and they retract when they’re supposed to.

By the way: I’m an acura technician and thats what I had to do for my buddy’s integra to get it covered under warranty
