So I have a set of one pieces that have been took apart by previous owner and they did a horrible job resealing em. Got em for cheap so it was hard to turn down. But anyways im going to take them apart clean em up and reseal then alot cleaner and was wondering if what do the glare gaurds do? If I remove them will I get better light output?
the glare guards element some of the lighting. If you do remove the guards, you will have better light output but its gonna be pretty bright.
Glare guards do just what their name implies.
They block off the glare given off by the housing reflectors and prevents glare from going into other driver’s eyes.
i am gonna be getting hids i know the headlights will scatter the light output but its 60 for halogens or 75 for bixenon 6000k hids that look pretty damn good so i went with it. would it be bestr to leave the glare gaurds in or remove them. where i live theres not to much restrictions on headlights
+1?
Leave them in unless you like blinding oncoming traffic and getting flashed constantly. I would strongly recommend leaving the oem fogs halogen. If you really want hid fogs I would suggest picking up some projector fogs and running them lower on the vehicle with 3k bulbs.
you found bixenon h4h hid kit for 75?!?!?
they guy i talked to said he can get them for me. im not 100% positive but well see when i recieve them
and the fogs will be staying halogen
i hope he’s not getting you H4s and thinks thats what you mean
well hes a DA owner also and i had said h4h. He asked if i had the one pieces so im hoping we were on the same page.
good price then.
yes so im hoping he got the right ones
wait wait wait…this doesn’t make any sense now.
i see that you were talking about taking off the glare guards inside the “JDM” headlight. but now you are stating that you wanna remove the glare guards out when you are installing the HIDs, but not just any kind of HID, bixenon HID (which are hi/lo beams).
what doesn’t make any sense is that, the JDM headlights has glare guards for the fog lights ONLY. with the JDM headlights, there are no glare guards for the hi/lo beam (H4H bulbs doesnt require a glare guard). so, why would you need to take out the glare guards, if there aren’t any?
the only way i can see how this would make sense is if you were talking about the EBAY JDM headlights, which has glare guards for both the fog lights and headlight bulbs. or, you are installing HID hi/lo into your fog lights (which wouldn’t make sense either).
^That’s what confused me too. Figured he had to be talking about the fogs. He has to mean the real ones though because the ebay “jdm” lights use a 9004 or 9007 bulb type.
my bad im a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. im just learning as i go
I just did a restoration of my USDM one piece headlights and also removed the clar guards. I will be posting a write up with pics pretty soon of how I did it if anyone else decides to do it.
