Good or Bad???

Last time I was at the track I ran with my stock air box and this guy in a civic had a short air intake and said that it was better to take it off and suck air straight to the manifold?? He and another guy convinced me to do it and I noticed I could only get a 10.25best in the 1/8th when the time before I ran a 10.1 ( keep in mind weather and tire pressure were about the same)…Now my question is with my new aem cai…would it be better to run with the filter or without just on the track? or was what these guys were saying really a good idea? I mean it made sense kinda…more airflow but the air was also a whole lot hotter so I dunno…someone please throw there two cents…thanks.

Well with a CAI, of course without a filter there will be a little bit more air flow (depends on your filter, but there will always be more flow without the filter of course). And as long as there’s nothing floating in the air, and no bugs or anything, you’ll be fine just on the track.

But yeah with a stock airbox to disconnect it at the manifold you’d think you’d get a lot of hot air…
i would think it would be better just to take out the filter
