Got Problems guys

Ok, I just had a clutch installed. So I was out getting it dialed in when I noticed my rotor was making noise inside my dist. cap.
So I was taking it home and she **** out on me. Some old guy seen it thought it was my timing belt and thought I should let his guys fix it. Haha, fly a kite a$$hole.
Back to subject, So shes in the garage. Turns out my rotor melted in my dist cap. I believe the rotor was original w/ 160k+ on it. So I bought a new roto/cap/wires/plugs. Put em all back on properly.
And she wont start. It will turn over, but it sounds like I cant get it to ignite.
Anyone have a fix or an idea why this is happening. Im stuck, dont know were to go from here. Help guys !!
Thnx

might want to try replacing your coil and igniter.

I would also check all the fuses… maybe the melted rotor shorted something?

the first thing to do is to check if you have sparks…

Cool…cool

thnx for the reply’s guys. Aight as far as the coil and ignitor goes where are they in the dist and how much am I lookin at? Hope not much. Just spent most of my $ on cap/rotor/wires/plugz.

I will check them fuses, didnt think bout that. Cheep fix. Not realy sure what the hell is goin on I can turn the key, she turns over but Im gettin no spark, but it does kinda pop and sputter like something is trying to work. Kinda sounds like an ignitor since nothing is igniting ya know.
Thnx for the help so far, like I said Im stuck as far as this one goes. Anymore help is appreciated.
Thnx

Oh yea…

Oh, just bout forgot. Hes is an example of the prob. this is givin me. Sittin out on a deserted nebraska country road, me and a couple friends just out kickin it around. Were sittin in the car “chillin” and my car starts to sputter and the idle jumps around. I shut er off, let it cool down. Try again, she fires up w/ a little hesitation, throw here in gear and off we were like a bat outa hell trying to get back to town ASAP b4 the beast killz in the country. How do you explain that? haha.
Umm yea mom we were just out lookin at the stars and stuff?! ; )

coil and ignitor are quite expensive… I paid $93CDN for my coil…

BTW, if you have a DMM (digital multimeter), you can check the resistance across the terminals of the coil, it’s gonna give you a good idea if he’s still good…

HTH!

I have a brand new igniter if you want to buy one. Email me if intrested.

; )

mos definatley

Not to scare you, but the old guy might be right about the timing belt. If the rotor was the original, chances are the bearing inside the distributor is original as well. This part has been known to seize up. If that happens, you’re timing belt and most likely your valves are all screwed. Whatever made the old man think it was the timing belt should be checked up on. Have a compression check done if you have no luck with the ignition parts.

Well heres the deal on the timing belt. I looked it over…still pretty. Ealier today I was driving it around, and no problems.
The 1st rotor melted, so I replaced it.
The 2nd rotor was fked up, all loose and moved around by the base(were u bolt it down). This resulted it clacking and squealing noises were the rotor was eating away at the 4 little posts inside the cap.
Figured that wasnt good, so I again bought another replacement rotor/cap/wires and plugz this time. Pulled off the old rotor and cap wich look like hell now. Installed all the new stuff and it just wont start up.
It turns over, but just sputters and every so offten it soulds like I get ignition in a camber. So tomarrow Im ganna pull out the plugs one by one adn see if Im gettin spark to each of them.
If not …we know the problem, right?

this happend to me 3 weeks ago. My recommendation is that you should look into getting a new or used distributor. It sounds like your bearing has seized especially if your gettting play from the rotor and your hearing that horrible finger nails on a chalk board when you start it up. As far as it not starting up, when you replaced everything, did you put the plug wires on right (on the distributor)?

If you do decide to get another distributor, make sure you by the right one (they make one for manual tegs and one for auto tegs)
Good Luck. Let me know how you make out.

Jeff

Damn. Now my car started making that noise. Damn you guys!

if it’s turning over w/ no spark… probably your coil.

it just went out on me, all of the sudden last weekend! good thing i was at Dan’s and he had an old distributor laying around.

here’s what the coil looks like:

90 93 teg’s distributors were recalled… they are free to fix till 2003 sept.

call up acura of america or check out alldata

mine froze up and i got it done for free by the dealer due to a recall… (this includes all trim levels…)

post back with questions ill help you out with numbers to call and such …

i just get so steamed when i hear about dealers charging for recalled parts when its FREE to them cause its a friggin recalled part GRRR…

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!!

woah, cool. i was going to get a new distributor soon.

how do i go about getting it for free?

No Shittin?

Damn, you know how good it is to hear the word RECALL?
You kick ass man.
So If I give my local Honda Dealer a call and tell him my distributor just pooped on me, he’ll fix it for free providing I have all the proof I need? That would help sooooo much.
OK so how do I go about doin this. The car is a 90 GS 5peed.

I already got mine repaired on the recall. Actually I’ve had mine fixed twice already. Can I get it done again for free? I thought they only did it once?

i was told they were taking care of them until 2003 sept.

now i dont know how many times but… thats what i was told
