my car is just noisy, my bushings in the back are gone and everywhere i go wants $300 to fix it.I will get it fixed soon but now i have worse noises to deal with, when i turn my steering wheel back and forth it makes theis screeching noise. It happens if i’m sitting still or even when i’m driving. It’s loud and people outside can hear it, its just goes screeeeech, screeeech.Does anyone know what is causing this and is it serious.
I also have one more question, i went to the back of my car and got my friends to rev my engine and i saw a little black smoke come out.Not a lot and not enough that you could see it if you didn’t see it come out.My car has been going through oil like crazy latley as well. The smoke isn’t grey or cloudy either.Does anyone know why i’m burning so much oil and why the black smoke.any help is appreciated
Steering noise is probably the power steering belt.
With the car off (of course) feel the inside edges of the belt. if it’s hard and slippery, your belt has been slipping and you should replace it. When you do, make sure it’s nice and tight, nut not overtightened or you can hurt your power steering pump.
Black smoke and burning oil are related. Sounds like it’s your pistons rings. Depending on how much oil you actually are going through, it may be pretty bad, or not bad at all. Either way, if you want it fixed, and don’t have enough experience to do it yourself, you’re lookin at a lot of $. Probably even a couple hundred $'s for parts alone (gasket kit, rings, etc).
would the power steering belt cause a loud screeching noise when i turn the steering wheel? also i thought when the pistons are going you get a cloudy type smoke. My cousin is a mechanic so he can help fix the troubles, i am at work so i can’t show him right now but you think my power steering belt is causing the screeching.help its getting worse too

actually i haven’t, i was under the impression that if my power steering fluid was low i just would have a hard time turning the wheel. It turns fine and all but makes that screeching noise.Should i check the fluid, could that cause the moise i’m describing. It really sounds like something needs to be lubricated but like i said its worse now than it was a month ago
Definitely check the fluid, it should be full … if not you may have leak, but it should definitely be filled if it is low … should solve your screeching problem.
Your pump needs the fluid to maintain pressure in the system … the screeching is probably air inside, instead of fluid, being pushed through. A belt is not likely to screech, because it is rubber … inspect that too tho.
i checked the power steering fluid level and it was in between low and high.So i don’t think it’s the fluid. What can it be, my car is lowered but not that low.It is just really annoying and loud. What else can it be, anyone know or have a similar problem
