Grinding sound after motor swap

I put a junkyard motor into my 93. Before my motor swap, I noticed very faint grinding sound when the steering wheel is turned to near max. After the swap, I hear much louder grinding sound, and I hear it all the time when accelerating, irrespective of steering wheel position. It is especially loud on 1st and 2nd gear (automatic). The sound is like something is grinding, or sometimes, it sounds like a hole in the exhaust. Sound is only present when in gear. I can rev the engine in Neutral or Park, and the sound is not there. By the way, the engine is running in tip top condition.

Is it bad wheel bearing? There is no sound when the car is coasting, at anyspeed.

I also suspect the motor mount. I visually checked the front, left, and right mount; they look good. I haven’t checked the rear yet.

I read that 93 left motor mount is different than earlier Integra’s. Is it possible that the new engine is from a 91 and I’m using a 93 motor mount? And this is causing the strange sound?

what you can try is putting the front up on jackstands and running it. see if you can hear where it’s coming from.
although usually these noises will only occur under load, it’s worth a shot

by what you described by the metal grinding sound you should be able to see metal shavings in any moving parts of the suspension… It maybe the lower control arm ball joint, top control arm hitting under the shock tower if your car is lowered.
You really need to safely raise the car and inspect everything with a flashlihgt and take your time.

I was able to replicate the grinding sound when the car is stationary. I start the car, put it into Drive, step on the brake hard, rev the engine while brake keeps car stationary, and hear horrible grinding sound, like a really badly worn brake pad sound.

Can anyone tell if my car has been lowered?

Sounds like its your transmission.

try it with the e brake on, put it in 2nd and let off slowly…
