I have been searching on here for a while and I cannot find the location for the main ground wires. IF anyone could tell me where they are located that would be great since I have been running into a problem that whenever my heater is on my headlights either dim or do not work
Which grounds specifically are you looking for? The headlights are grounded in harnesses that are on the rear/engine bay side of the radiator core support. Each headlight uses a different one of these grounding “bundles”. On the passenger side looking at the back of the foglight from the engine side, it is right next to the foglight on the support. I’m pretty sure its in a similar location on the drivers side although not exactly the same.
Here’s a picture of the grounding “harness/bundle”
And here is roughly where it goes… Of course it is secured with a bolt, I didn’t have one on hand
The main batt. to chassis/chassis to engine ground is under the batt., the engine ground is at a bracket where transaxle is bolted to engine.
Besides the two “engine” harness grounds, [head light grounds] already mentioned you will also find engine harness grounds at the thermostat housing.
On a G2, [and a lot of Honda/Acura] the most common grounding problem is the batt. to chassis ground, remove this ground and clean both contact surfaces and reconnect, even if it “looks” good, it is a bit of a pain as you will have to remove the batt. to get to it.
I would also check your main power, [12V+] circuit connections, batt. terminal, batt. to engine bay fuse box, all main fuse connections in the engine bay fuse box, and the charge line from the alt. to the engine bay fuse box, both ends.
If, once you have redone your grounds and powers, the problem is still there, have a proper load test done on the cars charging system, most alt./batt. shops will do this for free, it only takes a few min.
There is no point in having a load check done until the power and ground connections are eliminated as the problem. 94
Does anyone have pictures of the other locations for the ground wires? I cannot seem to find pictures of them
