Hi Folks
ive been outta the car game for a while now and my brain is foggy. i appreciate all your help.
i just got my Gs-R out of the garage from storage.
i have 4 new rotors and pads that i will put on. i have changed the brake on my LS in the past, is it any different from the GS-R? i assume there must be something different i have to dO?
also, i noticed that the ABS light is on - i did a search and couldnt find much - the brakes seem to work well. very touchy though.
thanks everyone for your help.
replacing rotors and pads on a Gs-r is the same process as changing them on an LS/GS.
As for the ABS light, this is one of the reasons many people change their braking systems to non-abs, that light is a PITA to get to turn off. The easiest way to get it to turn off is to unplug the ABS computer but you obviously won’t have ABS anymore.
The computer has a diagnostic LED on it. Its located next to the pass side rear seat (its behind the plastic attached to the body of the car) but the rear panel has a small piece of removable plastic in it so you can see the light and check the codes.
Its like checking the code on your ECU, count the blinks to identify the code.
I wish I could give you more info on what the codes are and how to get the computer to display its diagnostic, but im sure someone else here can chime in with that. Otherwise, search google and G2IC for ABS codes and you should find something.
Good luck!
P.S. the good news is so many people have ripped the ABS out of their cars that you should be able to get ANY part of your system fast and cheap if you can identify what’s wrong through the codes.
Well that’s awesome. Thanks man makes it easier to know that it’s the same process for the gsr!!
As for the abs~keep it or get rid of it? What would ur opinion be?
Honestly it’s never driven in the snow hardly in rain and I don’t ever remember them kicking in the whole time I’ve had her…leaning towards dichin it…
Thanks for your help I really appreciate it!
