I bought 2 cars to build one both GSR’s. The shell came from Virginia and was bought for the engine then stripped for parts by previous owner. The donor car was from Georgia and salvage due to accident.
The first day home.
The donor car.
I decided to paint the engine bay but not do a wire tuck or shave it. I wanted a clean semi-stock look. So that means remove everything and scuff it all down.
Freshly painted by me…
The interior all cleaned up and put back together.
The engine is a B17A1 which is what came with the 92-93 GSR’s.
Specs and upgrades:
Bored .25mm over with OEM JDM B16a pistons.
ITR oil pump.
Exedy lightweight flywheel and stage 1 clutch.
ARP rod bolts.
ARP head studs.
Toda timing belt.
ITR valve springs and retainers.
Ferrea flat face valves
RSR header and HKS hi power cat back exhaust.
I polished the intake and exhaust ports and port matched the intake manifold.
Still need to get better cams and possibly a thin headgasket.
The compression ratio is somewhere between 11.5:1 and 12:1
The suspension:
Function and form coilovers.
Suspension techniques sway bars.
Energy suspension poly bushings.
ASR rear subframe brace.
Strut tower bars and C pillar bar.
Blox rear camber kit.
Ingalls front camber kit.
Brembo blank rotors and EBC green stuff pads.
Earls SS brake lines.
Removed ABS.
The car now.
JDM 1-piece headlights.
JDM thin side moldings.
Flat black 16x7 Rota Slipstreams and 205/45R16 Nitto Neogen tires.
I still plan to paint the whole car and get a couple different sets of wheels.
The steering wheel is a 90 prelude si wheel. I want to have it dyon’d after I get some cams. I’m not sure what to get though…
Not many extra parts they went with what was left of the donor car and no moldings.
Thanks for the comments!
Its too bad one DB2 had to be sacrificed, but it is better in the long run because you get a complete car. If you had not intervened, both cars would be useless.
For the power steering I took all of the valves and springs out and capped off the line holes. So now it’s just the bare rack and I greased the internals. I am currently looking for an EF rack because mine has play in it. It’s been like that since I got it and it won’t tighten up with the big nut it just gets hard to turn the wheel.
The other car had some frame damage but wasn’t bad. I ended up selling it to someone that had a rotted DA. He was going to swap his parts and get it back on the road.
I am planning to get a CF hood, JDP lip, and repaint the whole car. I just got a Fluidyne rad and new hoses. I’m also looking to get a nice valve cover, intake, and some cams but not too sure on what to get. ITR’s or stg2-3 skunk2’s
oh sweet, so you pretty much saved two GSRs, that is if the other dude did save the other one. car looks good tho, i have been seeking out an old Prelude Si wheel for a while now
OMG Its Weasel- you can have my si wheel for 40.00 shipped. I don’t really like it because my knuckles brushed against the wiper and turn signal switches when turning. You would need to bring it up and inch or so to be comfotable with it.
Just got the ASR sway bar for the brace, A/C delete duct, new oil pan, Clutch cable, Fluidyne radiator and hoses, Nardi steering wheel, Skunk2 intake mani, 68mm TB, AEM fuel rail and regulator, and an EF rack.
I still want to get some ITR cams, a CF hood, valve cover, and short ram intake.
I will pull the head off soon to port match the new intake manifold to the head. I might also remove the center layer of the new headgasket before reinstall too.
:excite:
you are the man!!! i hate seeing gsrs being taken appart (i am guilty of 2) i also am putting one together now to make up for the wrong ive done-LOL, again you are the man !!!
