Ok I have so many questions I don’t know where to start. When I first got the car I replaced the distributor, rotor, plug wires, and plugs. I then realized that I was only running on 3 cylinders the whole time when I pulled the #4 plug wire (farthest to the left) out and the was no change in the engine sound at idle. When I took out the plug on that side i noticed that the end was pretty much charred. So then I figured that maybe my injector on that cylinder was clooged sinse it was getting spark but just charring the hell out of the plug cause there was no fuel being delivered. I took out the injectors and soaked them in fuel injector cleaner over night. Then next day I noticed a lot of **** floating around in the cleaner so I figured I solved my problem. Put everything back on and started her up and the problem ensued. Now I still think maybe its the fuel injectors and I need new ones but every parts store wants $70 for one injector so if that isn’t the problem I would rather not waste the money. What I think it might be but am dreading is that I have a dead cylinder:rant: . So is there anyone out there who could help me out with possibilities of what could be wrong??
you shouldn’t have soaked ur injectors overnight…
have you done a compression test?
Very simple solution to see if it’s your injectors…Just switch 3 and 4 or 2 and 4…you know what I mean. if the problem moves to the othe cylinder then there your go, it’s the injectors. You did change your spark plugs right? If so try ur wires if the injectors are not the problem. Sometimes they goes bad just not bad all the way. Those are the worst kind of break down because people would insist on “but it’s still working.” If all that fails do as Mango saids, do a compression test.

Also, if you are indeed not getting any fuel to 1 of the cylinder, you should be hearing a terrible knocking sound. When my car was on 3 cylinder the pistons were knocking and the car was backfiring like an old skool vw.

E-DA, what is bad about soaking them in fuel injector cleaner?
I did change the spark plugs and wires. Do you guys think maybe it could be my fuel pump, maybe its not working strong enough to get fuel to the 4th cylinder??
Any more help is greatly appreciated.
was the plug really charred, or was it covered in black soot? black soot = too much fuel.

what looks/is decribed most like yours?
Whatcar, the last one was definately the most similar one to mine. I’m going to get new fuel injectors maybe in a couple days when I can get the money for them. $70 a piece, damn these are expensive. Any other suggestions are appriciated.
So then you are getting TOO much fuel to the cylinder. I would try switching the injectors around first to see if it really is the injector…

If your going to get new injectors I would suggest getting aftermarket ones. Go with a quality brand and they’ll help you get the right cc injector for your engine.
Peace,
Ok, I did a compression test today and much to my worst fear, my 4th cylinder has 0 compression.:uhoh: The 1st and 2nd were at 180 but the 3rd was at around 150. My friend said that the third cylinder probably had a tight valve and the 4th one either had a burnt one or a closed one. My friend is pretty knowledgable about cars so I think that may be it. Does that sound like the problem to anyone else? Also if it does what kind of cash am I looking to throw down into this?
Thanks for any help.
