I searched alot and just thought I’d ask before I go ahead on this. I have a 92 gs with lsvtec. Motors blown. I do have a 94 b18c1 I was going to swap in but wanted to know do I need anything to do the swap since the lsvtec is in now? It’s a b18b1 with b16 head. Let me know please. Thank you.
Should be a pretty straight forward swap. Issues you’ll maybe have and I’m sure you can find the specific answers are the distributor may be different on a B16 head vs a GSR, tho I doubt it since I briefly had GSRms in a B16 head with no issue, only took them out cause I picked up a set of ITR ones. More likely is issues with the intake manifold. The GSR one is different than a B16. You will need the GSR one for your head, tho since I think both motors are OBD-I that the sensors on the head/manifold should all be the same and transfer over. You will need to change/mod you air intake tube as well as the throttle body sits in a different location in the bay. Lastly and some might call BS on this but the exhaust manifold might be wrong as well. Usually they are interchangeable but I have in rare cases seen where the flange doesn’t sit right without grinding it down on a GSR.
One question tho, what exactly do you mean when you say your motor is blown? like cracked block or just a head gasket? Depending might be worth it to just fix what you have.
