Ok, when I swap in a GSR, which ecu will I have to use? I know that the older ecu’s are different than later ones, so which car do I get my ecu from?
please do yourself (and us) a huge favor and download and read the vtec swap guide in the teg tips. It has the answers you need.
If you read it over and still have some questions about details or something doesn’t quite make any sense then come back and ask.
I guess I should have mentioned that I have read the swap guide, and done several searches. I also should have been a little more clear about what I was asking for. I know that each ECU (I also have the same ? about transmissions) has it’s own number code, but which car does it actually come out of? I.E., do I need an older b16 ecu, or a newer b18a ecu, which cars do the codes refer to. If there’s someplace I can locate all the number designations for parts, such as ECUs and trannies, that’d be great, but I haven’t been able to find it yet.
It really depends on what year car you have. If you have a 90-91 Integra, you have to use a non-OBD VTEC ECU (PR3, PW0). If you have an 92-93 Teg, you need a OBD-1 VTEC ECU (PR3, P28, P30, P61, P72).
These are what each ECU came from…
Non-OBD
PR3- 89-90 JDM XSI
PW0- JDM SiR
OBD-1
PR3- 91-92 JDM XSI
P28- 92-95 USDM Civic (SOHC VTEC ECU…needs to be converted to DOHC program to run)
P30- 92-95 Honda Civic Del Sol
P61- USDM 92-93 GSR
P72- USDM 94-95 GSR
Some of these ECUs may have been in more than one type of car, but this gives you a list of where to find them. Hope this helps.
