GSR Tranny for a LS Tranny?

My friend is starting to commute a lot more, he offered to trade me his GSR B17A tranny for my LS, due to the longer gears. He said that he would also purchase an ACT Stage 2 clutch, what do you guys think? How would I tell the difference between the 2 trannys?

Is there anyway to tell whether or not it is actually a GSR Tranny? I am going to drive it and make sure that everything works well, but other than the feel is there a code etc. on the tranny I should look for.

hey man if u dont want that tranny ill trade for it. youll know its a true gsr ys1 if its bolted to a b17a.why does u frind want longer gears? its hard to tell gsr ys1’s and ls, gs, rs ys1’s apart look on the bell housing at the id #s
