So I just bought a b18c1 Gsr motor and I need to know first what is the best wire harness to run?
The best ecu to run and any tips of previous people who have swapped a b18c1 in a 90 integra
Thanks,
Andy

Keep the original wiring harness for the car. Build a sub harness to run your vtec wires.
Smart move would be to convert to obd1. Once you’re obd1 you open up your tuning options a bit as well as OE options for parts like ecus and distributors.
Best ECU to run is anything you had custom tuned to your motor by a professional. The ECU you use isn’t important so long as it can be “chipped” by your tuner. P61, p72, p30… Doesn’t matter, once its chipped they’re all the same.
Nice thanks!
How do I swap it to odb1 I have a empty ls shell at the moment SK anything is possible so look for a odb1 Gsr harness?
You clearly aren’t fully reading my post.
Like I stated, you want the original engine harness. A 92-93 GSR engine harness will not plug into your car’s main harness so it’s pointless to try and use it. Even if you had a 92-93 main harness it wouldn’t work properly without some re-wiring. And a 94-95 GSR harness won’t work either. Again - use the original engine and main harness for the car, then modify and add wires as needed. This will ensure the least amount of work.
If the car is completely stripped and is missing the main harness then you just need to make sure the main and engine harnesses match. At that point you could use 92-93 main and engine harnesses but I would not recommend it as there will be a lot of small things you’ll need to figure out and re-wire. The possibility of error here is large. Stick with the original wiring for the chassis and then modify as needed.
As for how to do the obd1 conversion :search: :search: :search: These topics have been covered hundreds of times on this site alone. Do some research, do a lot of reading, scour your Helms manual…etc It’s not rocket science, the info is out there you just need to read it till you understand it and then go for the swap.
I was understanding it I was confused I’ll search for that my buddy was telling me I need 92-93 wire harness thank god I go on here thanks Colin you the man! I will be taking detailed pics to upload for swap post I’ll keep g2 updated thanks again
Might as well bump this instead of making a new thread. Picking up an obd2 b18c1 for my db2. Just never looked into the obd conversions before because I haven’t needed to. But from what I have read, all I need to do is get an obd1 p72, use the obd2 engine harness, my db2 tranny, and just wire up the IAB’s. Am I totally overlooking something, or does that sound about right? Lol.

I’m getting the motor tranny ecu and harness. If the obd2 harness is plug n play with a non db2, why wouldn’t it be for a db2? What fuel plugs were you referring to in that thread you linked? I’m gonna be rerouting and relooming the harness anyways, so relocating plugs is no big deal. Trying to avoid swapping plugs or electronics if possible, seems to be according to my link.
Or should I just swap distributor and injector plugs and wire IABs using the b17 harness, just to be safe?
If you were swapping a b18c into a non-DB2 chassis then yes, everything is plug and play after converting to OBD1 but you’re swapping into a DB2. I’m not sure which plugs go where because no one has really recorded their work of swapping plugs.
Interesting. Some of the subtle changes Honda made just blows my mind sometimes, lol. Thanks though. None of those links popped up in my searches. Looks like I’ll just swap distributor plugs and use my current harness, injectors, alternator and then wire the IABs.
100% you should use your original engine harness. Then remove the necessary connectors from the OBD2 engine harness and add that wiring to your car via a subharness that you build yourself. There’s no reason to mess with the other harness.
Yeah, that’s definitely the way I will be doing it now. I was unaware there of those differences on the db2 that make the obd2 engine harness not plug and play. Thanks guys.
Can anybody confirm that removing resistors R136 and R138 will disable the ELD on an obd1 p72?
Nvm, figured it out
