H22a in a g2 Easy?? Hard??

please post pros and cons with this swap.

What does it take to drop a h22a in a g2?

i know so far that i need custom mounts, but beside that what else do i need for the engine to run with no problems.

Thank You

Very hard and can be done… from what I have heard is you have to lose power steering and some other things… I’m not too sure… I’d think building up a B18 or B16/B18C1 swap would be more worthwhile… I’m just speaking from what I have read up on…

Anyone else can help?

the more opinions the better.

get out the sawzall ;-0

other then being able to say that you got a h22 in a g2 i dont think its worth it.

by the looks of your username, you have a 90 Integra. You’re already at a disadvantage from the get go. The H22A motor has a dual plenum manifold like the 94+ B18C motor, and with that there is no ECU in existance for a pre 1992 Honda to actuate the butterfly valves. There is one solution to that, and thats to buy the single plenum euro R manifold for the H22A/F20B motor, but it is worth well over $500 last time I saw a price for one.

So… you will need to do the mounts, convert to hydro and cable shifter tranny, custom ecu, customize your existing wiring harness to fit the H22A, and figure out a solution for the dual plenum manifold.

It can be done, but it’s going to cost a lot of time and a lot of money. Good luck.

i dont know of a mount kit for it nor what axles could possibly work so that much pain in the ass ends it right there for me.

As for secondary butterflys, just weld them in place or get an aftermarket intake manifold. However, youd need to convert to obd-1 anyway unless you are going to write a custom program for some non-obd ecu so if you have the balls to put an h22 in a da the wiring shouldnt phase you one bit.

?? They’re spring loaded and they always stay open. Vacuum controlled by the IAB solenoid is what keeps them shut. So you’re saying to get them welded shut???

place racing makes motor mounts for this swap!

HTH

place racing makes motor mounts to swap h22 in G2???

I believe its for a h22 in a g3.

Its good to see people on this message board that give incorrect information.

no company makes a mount kit for the H22A into the Da6-9 chassis. This is an extremly complicated swap with many more cons than pros, I do not recommend it to anyone, I have seen photos of it done, along with little ground clearance on even a stock height car, there is no room to work on anything in the engine bay.

Take off the vacuum line and kiss your low-end good-bye. But if you have a h22, it wont matter much.

Torque ownz me

First of all Place racing is full of crap when it comes to their mounts i waited over 9 months for them to tell me they were making them and for me to finally find out after 9 months they haven’t even started. So i made my own and yes the Intake manifold does not fit but if you have about $60 youcan use your runners and make a sheet metal intake. also it is not to hard to fit the motor it does fit in and the hood clearance is perfect. The axles are easy to figure out and the tranny issue is not easy but if you have a little time you can make a mount to house the cluch cylinder and an arm to have the cable pull the arm. Yes it is a lot of work i don’t deni that but it is cool to be able to say you have an H22 and that you can run a low 14 in the quarter stock motor and a low 13 on nos with street tires.

Finally…KNOWLEDGE.

Im going h22 in 90 RS. TOP THAT! Converted the Whole car to grey plug in 1 day. Axles are common sense, Wiring the secondarys are simple…They do make electric Acuators,Vacume control units, all kinds of $hit to make things move mechanically. Or…when you cant Buy it…BUILD IT!

Ill post some pics in the next few weeks. Still gotta mount it in there and Do the tranny “Issue”…yippeee.

I forgot where I saw this one project that they are sponsoring it is said that they are puttin a H22A in a 2nd Gen Teg. Keep searching on the search engines they like update it everyday so you will be well informed of what they did.
