How expensive/practical would it be to swap in a H22a from a newer 'Lude into my teg? im sure its been done before. TIA
hey dustin
hey dustin, well as sweet as it would be to swap an H22 in your teg, I dont think that it would be practical. First off, the complete H22 swap is quite pricey ($3000 range) and second off, you gotta do some MAJOR modifications to the engine bay of your teg, for the simple reason that is it a 2.2 liter (much bigger than the 1.8 stock engine). Although, the performance gains would be awesome!
So, if ya got the time and the dinero do it! but, its not too practical IMO. hope this helps. ![]()
thanks, woody
also, didja get my email about saturday??
Hey Nate, Ya, i got your email. thats cool, just call me whenever. I dont really have any plans for tomorrow. The h22 idea came from a friend. I was talkin to him in the parking lot of his job, i was sittin in my teg and one of his co workers came up and my friend was like “2.2 prelude motor in this thing” his friend was like WHAT!? haha. i thought it would be a cool idea, although i didnt think it would be too easy or cheap!! hehe.
H22 swap in a DA = straight line car ONLY!
A good way of knowing whether or not the mod your thinking about doing to your car is a good idea can be summed up with one thought. If you have to take a torch to your car and remove more than a square foot of metal body panel…it might be something your gonna want to think about.
Just my oppinion,
J.
There is one member here named FastFlip who has this swap in his DA.
Sorry guys but that thing is still badass… But a stroked & sleeved CRVTEC will do for me! ![]()
Theres another thought. Anyone know how much CRV-tec cost?

b20 longblock: $900
complete vtec head: $5-600
misc stuff like fitments and crap: ~$1-200
isn’t there a member that has a h22 with a turbo in his teg.

DB2-R81 - Ok, nice pic, bad ass!!!
H22a in a gen2 teg wouldn’t be TOO bad on handling if you use adjustable shocks etc. But there is more weight over the wheels and clearances are tight as hell.
The other option is the b series swaps of course, and b20 can be bad as hell too.
If you need a good price on any of these swaps feel free to email me, pm me or whatever, just check my profile.
DB2-R81, once again, bad ass pic.
