Hey guys,
Im new to the site but Ive had my teg for 5+ years now and have done a couple mods to it so far. I got it a 186K miles and put on another 100k+ and it is now burning more oil than gas! well, almost as much. anyhow, I got a great deal on a built h23a1 with 5 speed tranny and ecu and Ive been searching for the swap mounts to do the transplant but cant seem to find any. I really need to get this done already. its been sittin in my girlfriends mom garage for like 6 months now!
If anyone can point me in the right direction Id really appreciate it. links, a website, a phone number, whatever… i just want to get r done!
thanks for any help.
you are the man! everything i could’ve possibly asked for. thanx a mill bro!
h23a1…isnt that the non-vtec model?? if so, totally not worth your time, those engines are known to blow…they dont have pressurized oil to the crank bearings…they are lubrified by splashing…pretty damn shitty if you ask me, one of my buddies with a prelude changed his motor like 4 times, he finally got sick of it and bought an h22
I got the whole package (built h23a1, 5sp/mt, & ecu) for 2 payments of $250.00 so its def worth it to me. another $500.00 for mounts and maybe another $500.00 on misc. parts and its in! im not tryin to out-do anybody here, im just replacing a beat down B with a beefed up H. Im not thinkin bout turbo or nos or nuthin crazy, just about 180bhp plus bolt ons. sumthing nice to look at, then wow at when popin the hood.
H23  … drop in another LS period.
i have a h23 and got it for dirt cheap and its built and i dont plan on spending a couple grand for a h22. yall are makin me feel like just tryin to sell the h23 and gettin another b18 for the price.
i mean, is it really that bad? can i get a poll? lol. seriously, what do you guys say. anybody have a good experience with a h23? please inform me before i make a mistake. im not too stupid to do it if everyone is sayin not to. i just want the most bang for my buck.
I didnt know that H23’s where bad either! I always wondered why everyone took the H22 over the H23! I know my friend had a H22 type s motor from japan in his hatch and he always rode it hard, like 8k alot and never had a problem with the motor, but never had experience with H23!
yes, h23 are that bad…not meant to be revved at all…it WILL blow. like i said, no pressurized oil on the crank bearings…and it will not pull that much harder than your ls…maybe not even at all…and putting an H in a g2 is a big job…ask anyone here who did it on theirs
So basically for the work you are doing to install, and the gains or no gain you are getting = not worth the time! GOT IT!
well, it sounds like not one soul in here would go thru with this. soooo…
guess what. niether will i. im not the type to do a stupid thing when everyone is tryin to help you by tellin you not to.

Thanks for all your input guys. i really do appreciate it.
now, to find the best candidate for my 90gs. i miss that damn car so much. the other day i hot boxed it just to remember the good ol times! oh yeah, happy holiday peeps.
^ What do you mean your going to sell the integra?
no, no, no… im goin to sell the h23/tranny/ecu.
i already have a 5 speed and a handful of mods (custom cai, dc sport header, mugen chip, custom exhaust, brembo cross drilled rotors and pads, adjustable coilovers) so i’ll prob just get a new b18 and maybe do a light flywheel and stage 2 clutch with lsd or something. i also need shocks and strut tower braces. thats money better spent as far as i hear from yall.
we’ll see how it goes. maybe i’ll just rebuild my b18 and do the whole NA thing, all motor. idk. whatevers clever.
Well you can get a H22 but with the money that you would make off the H23 you would more that likely spend on the H22 alone! So you would have to dish out money for mounts and more time! I know a guy that got a H22 type s motor form japan for 1,500, to his door!
Old topic but where did he buy that h22a type s motor for so damn cheap? I’m trying to see the pros n cons of the jdm h22a and the biggest pro is that its so cheap!! lmk!

your a dumbass
90% of the people saying anything bad about the H23 probably dont even have any personal experience with them. if its something you want to do dont let people you dont even know stop you from it because they think its a bad idea
i dropped around 5K on my Z6 a while back because i wanted to, everyone else told me to swap a B or some other stupid shit. but i was happy with my Z6 simply because it was what i wanted
do your own research and see if you think the H23 is what you want
what he probably didnt mention is that it was more then likely a short block, with no tranny or ecu, if you want a good company to deal with look up
nippon motors, i bought an H22 from them a while back for an EG hatch i had and was very pleased, got my motor in 3 days, was in great shape and ran like a raped ape for over a year before i sold it, and still runnin strong
by the way, the reason i needed that H22, was because i had the car for less then a day and the last H22 in it spun a bearing, and i was just cruiseing (for the OP’s information)
