Im trying to figure out the best solution for my headlight problem. And think I may be close. Thought I would get soeme opinions on the subject.
I recieved a set of JDM one-pieces and they didnt come with any bulbs or sockets.
So I have 9004’s stock. And I need to upgrade to H4’s becuase they will fit with the least amount of modification.
So is it best for me to take the 9004 wires and splice them into a H4 male headlight bulb socket…Then modify the headlight to accept the bulb then add a relay and fuse harness to get power direct for the alternator? Are relays essential for H4 conversion or just recomended?
Why not just get the JDM sockets [and bulbs] so you do not need to make any modifications?
The need for a relay(s) will depend on the current draw of the bulbs you install, the stock high and low beam leads will “support” 10A each, if you need more I would recommend using relays.94
if it was me… i would just pick up some H4H bulbs and harnesses from password jdm… if nothing else… get like an H4H HID kit off ebay… they will run you like 100 bucks… then you won’t need a harness… just tap your stock wires… pretty simple… the only downside is that you won’t have any high beams… but with the oem fogs (which in the one piece headlights are pretty bright even with a stock bulb) and your hid’s combined… you won’t need high beams… and if you dont want to splice… the direct plug and play kit for the G2 integra’s with H4H bulbs is sold on password… its like 25 bucks… cheap cheap… i wouldn’t even think of moddifying my headlights or bulbs when i could get something that fit correctly … but thats just me… let me know what you end up doing… i’m curious how it works out for you…
Thanks for the input maximus. Let me go through the reasons why I dont want to use H4h and please someone correct me if I am wrong.
Firstly I dont want HID’s. They cause too much glare for oncoming cars (and normally Im that oncoming car) so i just dont wanna be that guy.
Second I want high beams. They aren’t about just brightness more that they are aimed higer so that you get a better view of objects at a distance at highway speeds. (ie. animals crossing the highway ect.) And Iv’e had enough encounters with them to know that split seconds can be life a life saver.
Thirdly I dont want to have to buy my bulbs from the internet everytime one blows. Credit Cards, or Paypal, shipping costs blah blah. I just wanna buy a bulb if it blows and put it in.
I do have a little something up my sleeve though Ill be sure to hit you guys up with some pics of the final project. Thanks again for the advice.
