So in my search for a new set of H4H bulbs to have on standby just in case one of mine burns out I found out that Honda Japan still has them available. Has anyone had any luck or at least tried ordering them from across the pond? This is where I found them https://www.amayama.com/en/search?currency=124&q=33115-SH3-003. It seems almost easier to do a bi-xenon retrofit than it is to find bulbs for the JDM one pieces these days.
Can’t you get them at hmo? I could have sworn they stocked new stanley h4h bulbs.
What’s HMO?
Hmotorsonline. I just looked though and their site changed. Its really hard to navigate now. Don’t know if they stopped carrying them or the new site just isn’t showing them for me.
ICB Motorsport has a good selection of H4H bulbs too. It’s worth buying a nice set of bulbs (like the Raybrig or Polarg) instead of OEM due to the better color temp. And in a pinch you can modify H4 bulbs to work.
Looks like I will just order a pair of the Polargs because shipping isn’t that bad. It’ll be a bit over $100 CAD after exchange but I guess that’s just the price of having a component never offered in North America. I’ve also read that the PasswordJDM bulbs don’t throw much light down the road which would be a concern because I do a lot of night driving. Thanks everyone for the input in this thread.
You will be happy with the Polargs.
Glad to hear it as I just ordered a set of them as well as a new shift knob for the GS-R. Guess I’m putting the mini H1 projector retrofit on the back burner once again.
I have them as well, it’s no HID but I’m definitely happy.
Same. Not super bright thru my tired one-piece lenses, but bright enough.
Thankfully my lights are in pretty damn good shape for the $140 I payed for them. The Stanley bulbs weren’t terrible at night but I have a habitual need to always try to get better light output without blinding other people. I’ll grab a side by side comparison of the Stanley vs Polargs once they finally show up if anyone is intersted.
Picture for reference.
I got mine in 2015 (Polarg) from ICBmotorsports.com but it looks like they are also out of stock. PasswordJDM had them for $40 last year when I checked and they are now going for $30. Maybe I should get a backup pair.
The Raybrigs I had from 2002 lasted 13 years. Crazy.
So I finally pulled the old girl out of winter storage and was able to grab some pictures comparing the Stanley bulbs to the Polarg units. In the pictures the Stanleys are in the driveside light, with the Polargs in the passenger side.

Side by side comparison of the bulbs:
Head on picture. Not much of a difference for on coming vehicles:
And finally the wall shot. It looks like a much nicer colour and doesn’t seem to have the streaky beam pattern that the factory bulbs have.
Thanks for the comparison!
Good comparison, Polargs seems a better choice.
