H4H to H4 conversion

Well now i’ve read the article on how to do it. It’s not the installation that worries me when doing this… What is the light output like in comparison. I have heard many things. I have searched the topic aswell. I’ve had some people say that when switching from H4H’s to H4’s the H4 headlight is MUCH dimmer and will not work or look nearly as good.

I just switched from USDM headlights with the 9007 bulb mod that was supposed to be “so good”. It was terrible, there was no real beam, just a scattered glow and I got highbeamed ALL the time even with my lights properly aimed.

What I want to know is, by doing this north american H4 swap, am I going to be losing power or lighting output? If so I’ll wait and find a set of H4H’s. If it’s VERY similar, i’ll go pick up a set and put them in.

Thanks

dood, i did the same thing previously, converted H4 bulbs to fit onto JDM’ s. basicly cut the metal surrounding the bulb to fit. they were super wham-o PIAA’s that i had sitting around. thought they were going to kick butt. instead, they sucked butt. dont do it. light output was terrible. just get some H4H’s from rev auto or something.

H4 in Japanese Headlights =

it’ll work, and be ok i guess, if you cant find/afford replacement bulbs so you dont get a fix it ticket or anything, and it’s better than nothing.

but if i had some uber cool H4 bulbs vs. oem H4H, i’d go with the oem bulbs… they’re just so much better…
