ok im getting half the price of an engine swap for xmas…sooo
IF i only had to pay half price what engine should i get, im kinda leaning towards a GSR engine, i have a 90 teg, non obd if that helps. i was thinking a b16a, but id like to get a newer engine for the teg. i am probably going to get the engine installed at a shop, i dont have enough time to do it myself, what would the labor costs between getting a 1st gen b16a installed, and getting a b18c motor installed?
I did a b16a swap for my Integra this past summer. I would recommend the b16a swap. It was very straightforward and cheaper than the GSR swap. You should really look into doing it yourself. It took my lil’ brother and I three days to get the motor in and the car running.
I don’t know what your total budget is, but there are a few more things to buy other than the motor/tranny/ecu. Motor mounts, timing belt, water pump, fluids (oil, radiator, tranny oil), axles (maybe), and just miscellaneous things that you’ll figure out when you are in there.
I had a friend that talked to a shop in Carrollton, TX and they wanted to charge him over $3k for the b16a package and to install it.
Good luck on whichever path you take…
ive pretty much decided on the b16a, then once that engine is in, start beefing up my b18 bottom end for ls/vtec…any we can meet up and you can take me for a ride in your b16a powered car?
That sounds cool.
How close are you to Vista Ridge Mall? (Lewisville)
