Half radiator? ??

I have seen its possible but cant find any details on It…what radiator is everyone running and how did you mount it…i plan on running a top mount for my turbo setup and need the extra room… im also running a b16a dont know if that matters or not

This is exactly what I am trying to find out too!

Anyone??

I had a civic eg radiator with 12in slim fan on ebay and had it for 3 years and still working now with no leaks. The radiator is too tall that my hood would sit on the radiator cap and leave a gap between my hood and headlights. I hammered down the radiator mount till it touches the stock traction bar. Probably went down like quarter of an inch but I can see the gap still. I got myself Innovative Traction bar and banged the radiator mount more, went down close to half inch more. No more gaps. I use some random top bracket for the radiator and now it sits evenly with the frame and secured.

I suggest getting a two inches core radiator half-size for your turbo set-up. It will make your life so much easier…made my life easier when I went turbo.

Beware that depending on the exact configuration, you may not have ideal cooling with a half size radiator. My friend had had horrible overheating problems with his half size radiator in his EF with ITR engine. After talking with some people we think we might be able to remedy the problem by blockin off the other side of the radiator support to help direct air into the rad instead of around it. I’ve seen this cure the same problem on a couple other cars… so just something to think about.

if your going turbo then your going to need a dual core aftermarket aluminum radiator…ive seen guys with 400HP Turbo setups running the half civic radiator and no cooling issues. Just make sure you use the stock fan for that half radiator also.

Truth said there. I used a mini mishimoto fan after turbo installed and over heated quick and to often. Slapped the stocker back on in stock location on half sized radiator , never over heated again.

When u use the half radiator. Can u still u your AC because u are taking out the fan for the AC compressor? Anybody still running AC with a turbo.

i just put in a dual core half radiator and had to make my own mounting plate for it. I used the right radiator mounting spot, and left the left one on. it rests on a avid traction bar and is working for me. You’re gonna wanna bend some metal for a tie down to your car.

yeah it’s easy for people to follow the crowd and buying something they never did research for.
most of the slim aftermarket fans sold cheap ex: $30 end up overheating your engine since they don’t have the necessary rpm rate as stock fans. simply put the electric motor doesn’t spin fast enough.
so before you buy another cheap slim fan ask about the rpm specs.
I would just go to the auto wrecking yard and check all the fans on each car till I find one I like. you can retro fit any fan on a radiator really, it’s OEM quality and won’t fail. plus it’s cheap if you get it from the yard. I think the euro cars have slim fans in case anyone is interested.

I just finished my turbo and managed to keep the AC. I ended up getting two slim fans (FAL) and mounted them in front of the A/C condenser and wired them for pusher fans instead of pull. The only problem I had with this setup was the fans interfered with the foglights. I ended up getting rid of the fogs.
