hand brake adjustment?

just replaced my rear rotor and my problem is when i pull my hand brake the car doesn’t stop right away it rolls a little then stop, like its very weak. I already tightened the springs and stuff behind the ebrake. But it feels like it needs some more adjustment somewhere. Shouldn’t the car stop right away when you pull ebrake? thx for any help

if your e-brake is working properly, your rear wheels will lock up when you pull it. But that doesn’t necessarily mean your car will stop right away… rear wheels don’t stop the car NEARLY as fast as the fronts…

Check to make sure your cables are connected properly at the rear brakes. I think my cables are really stretched, but I’m doing some work to my brakes this weekend so I’ll double check everything before I spend the ridiculous amount of money that acura wants for brake cables.

is it not good to use the ebrake a lot? or can you just readjust it… say like for launching or if youre lazy at a stop light (automatic).

it’s fine to use the ebrake for that, but over time the cables can stretch quite a bit. There’s an easy adjustment right behind the park brake lever, but in my case that doesn’t work because one of the cables is stretched or disconnected or something… so if i tighten it any further, one wheel’s always dragging and the other still doesn’t lock.

doesn’t it supposed to lock-up right away when you pull it? like when I see a turn in a slalom that they pull the ebrake to induce slide for a big 180, well don’t know anything about slalom, but looks like they can lockup the rear brake faster and harder. Or do they have upgraded something on their brakes? can anyone enlighten me on these thx.

Yes, your rear wheels are supposed to lock up when you pull the e-brake. I just meant this won’t stop your car very fast…
