I am hearing this whining noise coming from my front drivers side wheel. I checked it out, and it is not the brakes, but there is not any play in the wheel bearing. Can I take the hub off and just pack the bearing? Anybody that has done this, please reply, because the shop wants $225 to do it. I am at work tonight, and need to fix it tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Replaced mine a few weeks ago… fairly easy if you are well equipped… but if you only have hands tools, don’t try it!
do you always hear the noise or only in certain occasions?
It is constant, whether I am in reverse or drive. It goes away sometimes at high speeds, but pretty much constant. I also noticed today that my car felt a little sluggish, like some drag on it. Thanks

are you sure the brakes aren’t sticking? Axle in good condition?
The brakes didn’t seem to be sticking, but how do I check the axle. It is a constant sqeeking sound.
