Hatch lock not locking

My hatch lock is not locking the hatch. I looked at the hatch lock and the black plastic piece that pushes the hatch lock down is broken. So the hatch loop is not connecting to the hatch lock to enable to lock to latch on to the loop. Any suggestions? I was thinking on adding a piece of metal to replace the plastic. Thanks in advance for any help.

If the locking mechanism is broken, just go get one at your local junkyard…

I was thinking the same thing but I thought the chances of that same plastic piece braking are kind of high.

I’ve had two DA’s and none of them ever had this problem before shrug

I still don’t know what plastic piece you’re talking about cuz I never really look at my hatch lock but see if they sell only that piece at the dealer… if it’s too much… like I said before… go grab at it the junkyard.

I called Acura to see if they sell it but they only sell the entire lock assembly. I thought I would post to see if anybody had the same problem and found a way to fix rather than buying a different lock assembly. thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem (hatch not closing). Turns out to be a stretched cable or the cable not moving freely in the casing.

Yeah I had THAT problem sometimes. My hatch would be closed tight but the hatch light would still be on on the dash… I just open the hatch again and close it down hard and the light goes away…

That’s the only problem that I ever had with the hatch… never had anything broken from it though…

^^ you could also tape the metal loop on the hatch - the one that sticks into the latch. More often than not the added girth of the tape is enough to turn the light switch off. As for my stretched cable, I just disconnected it. The hatch can only be opened with the key. Will fix it when I’m not lazy anymore.

Thanks for the help guys. It does close when i slam it down. I will try the tape thing. Thanks.
