Welp Ill tell you this, modding a car is probably the single WORST investment you can ever make. You never get the money back that you put into it when youre ready to sell it, no where near it. Ill also tell you another thing, 9 times outta 10 if you do the modding yourself you almost always end up running into problems here or there so its always good to allow yourself lots of time and have lots of patience because it is a long term process. What you do is your choice, I took the route youre thinkin bout in high school and vowed Id never do it again, or at least not again til Im waaaay older and that if I ever got another G2 Id do it totally different, as I am - totally stock. I enjoy the G2 experience enough that I can handle it being totally stock, but thats just me. First good mod though would be an intake, theyre always easy and provide nice results. Good luck
He’s right, the worst investment you can make, you don’t get your money back when selling it, but damn it sure is FUN. I don’t think anyone on this board or anywhere else would say they started to mod their car because they wanted to get more money out of it when they would sell it. They do it because cars are their passion, and they do it for themselfs, and their cars.
I’m not really trying to make money by doing this. I’m just not sure if I should drop about 2k into my car or just save up a few years and get an RSX(I’m dreaming here).
I was just wondering if I put anything in it if I would get some of the money back when I got a new car.
Na I don’t think we’ll ever get our money back, but you do get the experience of taking things apart, having more fun driving your car around, and learning what stuff works better, so that later on you can do mods on your new car too!
HAHA I agree…mod it. I have a 91 RS with intake/exhaust and some other stuff. In two years I put in ummm $6k fixing it and adding stuff and I bet I couldn’t sell it for about 3500. i still love it and surprise a lot of people with how quick it is…so my .02…mod it
i think a large factor in deciding what to mod is how much money you have at once. a lot of us have tidbits of money now and then, so we go the intake/exhaust/header/suspension/motor route over a long period of time… but i guess if i had 1 or 2 thousand at once, id either begin the turbo process, or buy a full coilover suspension.
