Hazard light fuses, relay location ????

So I am having issues with my hazard lights. Bought my car about a week ago and want to get this fixed.

I have searched and no thread has been specific on the locations of the fuses/flasher/relay etc etc…

So form what i read there is a

  • fuse on the fuse block (found and tested)
  • one in the engine bay fuse block. (which one is it?)
  • one on the top of the battery, hooked up to one of the cables? (where?, dont see anything)
  • and are there any relay’s or flashers that control the hazards?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First question, do the signal lights work?

If so, then everything after the hazard switch is good, including all wiring, bulbs and the “Turn Signal/Hazard Relay”

The hazard lights fuse is fuse 34 - 10A, [hot at all times] in engine bay fuse box, this is in a CDM Integra, not sure about a USDM, my Haynes indicates it’s a diff. fuse location but does not give a fuse number, only that it is also in the engine bay fuse box, it is also a 10A and is hot at all times.

Second question, do you have a multimeter or test light?

If so, pull the hazard switch and test for power on the white/green lead, [hazard lights power], if there is power on the white/green check for power on the green/white when the hazard switch is on, if the green/white has power check for power on the green/red, [with hazard switch on] if there is power on the green/red check for power on the green/yellow and green/blue.
Let me know what you find.:corn:94

All other lights work besides the drivers side foglight.

I tested the switch with a spare that I aquired, and I also tried checking for volatge on the connector. Didnt get any results (may have been faulty grounding of the multimeter on my part)

At first i thought it was the ICU, since a bunch of things werent working on the car. I swapped it out with a working one (supposibly) and everything works except the hazards.

One strange thing is that You here the chime go off very lightly in the background when the turn signals are on.

Check the multimeter ground, there should be power on the yellow/red, [may be just yellow] when ign. switch is in run or start position, it is power for signal lights.

The only part of the hazard/signal light circuit that the ICU controls is the front side markers, even without the ICU all the rest of the hazard/signal lights will work.

It is a good bet you had a grounding problem with the meter as you should have tested 12V+ on the yellow/red as the signal lights work.

The chimes should not be going off when signal lights are on, maybe it’s just the relay “clicking” on and off.:shrug:94

yeah ill check voltage again today…

I would really like to know where those fuses under the hood are that everyone talks about… its way easier to check all the fuses before going into the wiring.

There will only be one fuse for the hazard lights in the engine bay fuse box, found this… http://www.g2ic.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=25242&d=1186068888 indicating a 7.5A fuse, #34 for the USDM Integra, however it makes no sense that it is the same fuse for signal lights and hazard lights, [as indicated] ans signal lights are on an ign. circuit and hazards are on a constant power circuit.:dunno:94

Yeah looks like I have no fuse in the engine bay, sinceI have an abs model…

I regrounded my multimeter and came up with some results…

bottom line is i think the white/green wire is my problem, which is constant power, correct?

This wire is only slightly hot with ignition on and switch on… otherwise it has nothing.

took the cluster and surround out to see if any damage to that wire was visible… didnt see anything… .what else could cause the wht/grn wire to get no power?

Yes that will be the problem, the white/green is hazard lights power to hazard switch, it should be 12V+, hot at all times, it is either a blown fuse or a break in the white/green lead between the fuse and the hazard switch.

To confirm this, use a jumper and connect the yellow/red, [signal lights power to hazard switch] to the white/green, turn ign. on and try hazard lights, both the hazard and signal lights should work. :corn:94

This is gonna be fun… Fuse in the in-car fuse box is good, so either there is another fuse other than that one in the engine bay (controls both hazrads and signals, like you said) or I have a nice little non visible wire break.

If that jumper wire works, would it be alright to leave it in there for a few hours so i can get through inspection…

I definately am gonna track and fix the problem, but I need to get the car inspected ASAP.

Just did it when i went home for lunch… i jumped the wires and it works…

this is gonna be fun. I think i may try it with the jumper just to get through inspection ahahah

The hazards will not work with ign. off.

If you want something temporary, run a lead from the constant power free pin, on the under dash fuse box, to the white/green. :whisper:94

Thanx a lot… I appreciate all the help…

One last question… wheres that power pin on the fusebox? ahahah

Just above the top row of fuses you will see 5 free pins, one of them is 12V+ constant, if you look here… http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-93-acura-integra-OEM-indash-fuse-box-w-controls_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQitemZ350102503753QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ebayphotohosting you will see the free pins just to the right of the fuses, 3 in a row and 2 more offset to the right.:rimshot:94

Thanx so much. I appreciate all your help very much.

Ok so i figured out where the issue is. My car does have the fuse that is supposed to be on the battery. i found it hidden on the side today. Now does anyone have a picture on how it is setup?

All i have is a plastic peice with a fuse in it, with the white wire plugged into it…

i need to know how it was originally wired up to the battery.

It can be connected to the batt. pos.(+) terminal or to the batt. connection in engine bay fuse box, any 12V+ constant source, [with enough current] will work.:)94

i figured out how it works… very strange setup.i wonder why they have the hazards DIRECTLY hooked up to the battery? safety feature?
