Head destroyed...b17 head interchangable?

Ok…

Awhile ago my car “blew up.”

Turns out the cams lost lubrication and destroyed the head pretty much…(how this happened is beyond me)

Anywho… I sold the car to my brother and bought an ugly round headlighted 94 LS that im gonna boost muahahah…

Anywho my question is…is the b16a head usable on my brother’s b17a1 block? We pulled the head already…other than hellu carbon buildup on the pistons and valves…the bottom looks good…

Will the b16a head on the b17a block raise compression?
what about the b18?

The problem is…b17 heads are rare as hell…

the b16a and b17a heads are both pr3 heads (same cast). So, yes, it will work fine. Actually you could put any head on it without any modification (however if you used a b18c1 head you might want to swap intake manifolds).

the b17a cams might be slightly more aggressive than the 89-91 b16a cams. I know the 89-91 b16a cams are the weakest out there. But this difference isn’t big, and i doubt you could even feel it. Like it matters, if you really care about hp you’ll be upgrading them in due time anyway.
