header and exhaust size

LMAO aww shit…

completely disregard what i just said. DAMN i feel stupid

ok. so the cat/“test pipe”…

i wanna get this one…
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MEGAN-RESONATOR-TEST-PIPE-CAT-90-91-ACURA-INTEGRA-LS-RS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414c4b5170QQitemZ280452878704QQptZRaceQ5fCarQ5fParts#ht_600wt_928

but when it comes to the cat, is it one of those things where im paying more for the name than the functionality? because otherwise ill just get the ebay brand

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-1991-1992-1993-INTEGRA-CAT-Catalytic-Converter_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3efb3749dcQQitemZ270502676956QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_4059wt_1194

Just remember 9/10 times all those ebay “high flow cat’s” are just glorified test pipes. They wont pass emissions and will probably make the exhaust a little louder cause it acts like a test pipe. Just my .02

that sucks…

i didnt know that. i ended up buying this…

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260580575547&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT

yep. those kinds are just an open pipe that looks like a cat on the outside.

the one i just bought myself actually was this one here…
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-25-Stainless-Steel-Catalytic-Converter-HIGH-FLOW-CAT-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3efc105705QQitemZ270516901637QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

$54 shipped and will pass emissions and any shop will put it in without a problem

Are you saying the the header collector is 2.25" and you want one that is 2.5"?
Personally, I wouldn’t go with a 2.5" exhaust unless you have internal work done to your motor.
2.36"(60mm) is the size I’d use(There is a reason Spoon uses 60mm piping for their N/A exhaust).
Also, if you get a header with a 2.5" collector you’ll either need to notch out the crossmember or get a traction bar.

doesnt that need to be welded?

Yup.

Here’s what mine looks like:

Mine’s an SMSP, but same basic concept. Forgive the shitty welds, I almost never get to use the welder so I’m not very good :frowning:

That seems like a really good price on the Flowmaster. I’m not sure how it compares to my SMSP, but mine was much more expensive (although I also ordered flanges and piping).

^^^^ thats exactly what i planning doing with mine. just weld the flange(s) on as needed and be all good

Yup, it was a piece of cake. Even welded in an extra O2 sensor bung so that I can install a wideband on the dyno w/o removing the stock O2 sensor. Oh, and obviously it’s painted w/ high temp black paint (got it from eastwood)

Colin, that’s a flowMONSTER not flowMASTER hehe which may account for the good price.

yep just a cheapo to get it as legal as possible

Scanning owns me  But yeah, that price seems much more appropriate now. I personally won’t try a cheap cat ever again. We used some generic high flow cats on our RX7 and the insides crumbled and caused the car engine to choke - it took forever to troubleshoot and was a huge PITA. Of course I’m sure it was mostly due to the fact that the car was used for rallyX, so we were beating it up royally, but still.

i agree with Colin, as i said the only reason im going with the cheap one is simply to get the shop to put it on right away. later when i can afford a good one i’ll have the proper length already measured out and i can weld it and install it later

my “hi flow cat” is here =[

along with the exhaust. i dont think im going to be happy with this set up. the exhaust part anyway…

lol me and you have the exact same setup. http://g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202207&highlight=header+question

For a minute I thought I was reading the same post when he said he used a C-clamp to pull the exhaust together but couldn’t find any of my responses. Looking closer I saw it was someone else doing the exact same thing.

ok, this is the issue where it stands. its a picture of the headers connecting to the cat…

or is it supposed to be like that?

integracer91 is is this how yours is and my cat and headers and everything line up perfectly…

just need a doughnut gasket in between and its all good

where can i find one of those?

yes?
