header/exhaust combo question
i’m going by what i know. literally every single person i know personally who has used a dc header in the past, had it crack at the welds inside of a year’s use. that in combination with comparing the ports to obx, jdm itr, and megan equivalents, i won’t ever consider using a dc header.

budget:
megan
obx
jdm itr

baller:
T1R
Hytech
Comptech
SMSP
Edelbrock

just my .02.
Doesnt spoon just make pretty much OEM replacement parts.

I am not trying to start shit or be a wise ass but see it how you like, but as far as I know spoon is just like OEM replacement.

I have no other experience with other headers so most likely you are completly right…

And some specs:

DC 4-2-1 Headers = Primary Tube Diameter (in): 1 5/8 in.
Collector Attachment: Stock flange
Collector Diameter (in): 2.000 in.
Tuned: No
Primary Tube Gauge: 16-gauge
Flange Style: Standard
Flange Thickness (in): 1/4 in.

Edlebrock 4-2-1 Headers = Primary Tube Diameter (in): 1 3/4 in.
Collector Attachment: Stock flange
Collector Diameter (in): 2.500 in.
Tuned: No
Primary Tube Gauge: 16-gauge
Flange Style: Standard
Flange Thickness (in): 3/8 in.

So I can see where the edlebrock would be better than the DC, I know what my next upgrade will be. thnx

I didnt see much of a price difference though…

Spoon doesn’t make OEM replacement parts. They oftentimes use oem specs as a starting point. their endurance race cars are some of the best.

I get were your coming from now Iceman. Edelbrock is defineitly heavier built and seems better. Do you by chance know what the outlet diameter is on the Edelbrock header?

it’s a 2" but most of the ppl i’ve seen that get them do a 2.5" collector modification and have great success. ricecake on here is in the process.

could u direct me to a way to do that? I tried searching for a forum or post but couldn’t find it. Link possibly?

I currently have an Ebay “Spoon Sports” 4-2-1 Header and it leaks pretty bad, but I think that is due to crappy gaskets…I have a DC Sports Ceramic 4-2-1 in my room wait’n to go on so I’ll see if there is any real difference in the two…From what I hear Megan Racing makes a pretty decent header and also GReddy is supposed to be really nice.

I had a Mugen 4 to 1 stainless steel header going straight with no cat to an HKS Hi Power stainless steel exhaust. This was before I put a turbo on my car. I loved the way that it sounded and the HP gain was more than noticeable. It was VERY loud when you would get on it and not cheap sounding like a tin can. I would really notice peak torque gain when my RPM reached the resonate frequency of the exhaust. If I want back to NA I would use the same setup. I am still using the HKS Hi Power but the sound changed a lot with the addition of the turbocharger. Now it is quiet, and I like that. :baby:

rage header, and old skool greddy trust exhaust w/ full race traction bar to clear the rage header
