headlight decisions

so i really really want a set of jdm stanley 1 piece lights but they seem to always be out of budget bc i have an evo that requires a ton of my money usually lol…so i am also looking at these, which of these would look best with my color scheme, im leaning towards black…

heres my car

clear lights

and the ones im leaning towards

Stay with OEM 3-pieces?

Out of the two you listed I’d say black.

my 3 pieces r messed up thats y i wanna replace

The black would complete your theme, but, for saftey purposes Id stay away from them. The light output on those lights is horrible and produce crazy glare on oncoming traffic.

If you can afford the time to save your money I would lean toward the JDM one peices, re adjusted they light up really well.

but with the jdm ones id need to buy the lights, harnesses, and new hid’s thats wat im trying to avoid

With either setup your buying lights with one more expensive then the other, if you have HID’s no harness should be required for either, all that would needed to be done is a trim of the 9004 socket to a h4h on the jdm.

But… Like I stated above, the black would complete your theme, I’d just hate to be infront of you with all the glare lol.

i think i make alot of glare already with the hid’s in my stocks wit no projector retro-fit, but i think im about to score a set of the JDM ones from a member on here, just gotta wait till payday on thursday, luckily his come with bulbs and everything

That would be a better investment, honestly. Do they come with the PasswordJDM harnesses as well? If not I have a set I’ll sell you if you’re interested.

yea hes selling the lights, the password harnesses, and 2 sets of bulbs for $250 plus shipping…but ill prolly just cut the bulb and make it fit the h4h so i can keep my HIDs

Good deal:up:

Id love to do an ITR replica with a retrofitted projector and new reflective corner lamp on those eBay light but… With a family my priorities have changed lol.

Not a bad deal at all… good decision imo.

sweet, on thursday the jdm 1 pieces are mine, and yea i think the black ones from ebay with projector housings would be sick…but for now ill stick with the simply clean look of the stanley 1 piece

Heres Ozzman3k22 cars one with JDM and one with ebay

Though I do like the JDM headlights the fluted lens, cutting material to fit bulbs into the H4H slot, and lack of pnp HID kits I will be trading my JDM lights for a titanium set in the future.

My plan is to first paint over the reflective housing in the ebay lights (white, silver, or other) then put in a HID kit in it (idk if they use H11 or 9004 bulbs yet).

But otherwise yes $250 for JDM one pieces and hardware is very nice.

wow those clear ebay ones actually look really freaking good…ugh this is soo hard i want the stanleys just bc no1 in el paso has them and i want my car to be sick, but that comparison pic makes me wonder

I found some old pics on my cardomain that show roughly what outputs look like from jdm vs eBay headlights. Copy paste and scroll down page 4.

Personally I like the smooth output of the jdm’s but that’s my IMO

ive never seen light so scattered and ugly like that before, but that wasnt with hid’s was it?

I was using 9007 bulbs at the time, they were rewired to work with the stock harness.

Using 9007 may have caused the glare since 9007 run at 55W low and 9004 are at 45W low beam.

That is why when I plan to use a HID kit I will 1) Build a glare guard and 2) Paint the housing.

What bulbs were in the JDM lights? Looks like OEM H4H?

I think for the output of the lights the JDM will win out because of the fluted lens which will distribute the light more evenly onto the road as compared to the clear ebay lights.

TegFan you are correct. The jdm lights had polarg h4h bulbs I was using 9007 which is similar to the 9004 but higher wattage.

I mainly think the bad glare is due more to the poor “diamond” cut of the reflective lens. I remember back in the day a few members toyed with the glare guard idea but never really saw the results, I’d be interested to see the outcome once your finished.
