Hey guys What up. This is my first post here and so far i like it here…So hopefully you guys can help me out. Well i just got my teg the other day and i went to get in and my pant leg caught on my headlight/turn signal switch and broke right where it meets the steering colum. So basicly im trying to find out if i need to pull the steering wheel to replace this part and also if you guys know of anywhere i could find it for cheap. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Check local junk yards. It ain’t cheap new. Yes, I believe you need to remove the wheel. I can check the Helms later and tell you for sure what has to be removed.
cool id appreciate it… you ever pull a wheel before? I have one more yard to check but everyone else comes up empty handed
You need to pop the center piece out of the wheel which will give you access to the nut (according to the book, you should replace this nut when reinstalling). Remove the nut, the wheel should come off. There are some connectors on the back that you will have to disconnect to get it all the way off. There are 3 screws that hold the housing together that you have to get from the bottom, remove the housing and you will have access to the switch assembly. I haven’t done it on a DA, but it should be similar to my 91 Civic that I had the same problem on.
I got one $30 shipped. LMK if your interested.
And yeah, it’s very easy to replace. Steering wheel nut, a couple screws here and there, and some plugs.
just remember to disconnect the battery so u dont shock the shit out of urself
my steering wheel nut is hella tight, i cant get it off!
19mm right?
Use your factory lugnut wrench. Lock the wheel, put the wrench on the nut and pull with your body weight.
awesome idea, and it worked!
this should be a teg tip… maybe ill do a write up w/pics.
thanks guys!
nevermind lol bringing back the dead… bad
bump… i gotta do this on my teg
