Headlights/Abs/HU

Okay so I tried searching, learned a few things, mostly regarding my ABS issue which I now think I have sorted out.

Long story short my teg sat for about a year after an accident and I had the insurance pulled. The issue I’m having now is that both my headlights and my HU receive no power. Another thing I noticed (might be completely seperate) is that the in dash clock is extremely dim and sometimes off completely. So I took out my battery, tossed in a new one and replaced my old corroded terminals. While I had the battery out, I took the ground from the negative terminal and sanded down the other end and cleaned it all up. The ground from chassis to engine looks to be in good shape. All of this with no luck. ogs, side markers, bumper lights, and tails all work. Interior dome light does not but I think that is a separate issue with the door sensor.

Is there anything I have missed? I’ve checked fuses and relays, checked grounds, and now I’m a little bit stumped.

Where was the damage from the accident?

The head lights have 5 fuses, #4 and #5 -10A, [hot when low beams are on] in under dash fuse box, #9 and #10 -10A, [hot when high beams are on] in under dash fuse box, and #33 - 50A, [hot at all times] in engine bay fuse box, have you checked it?

The dome light is fuse 14- 15A, [hot at all times] in under dash fuse box, [clock is probably on the same fuse along with the lighter] will the dome light work if you turn it on at the light, does the trunk/hatch light work?

Are you using a meter or test light to check fuses or just eyeballing them?
A multimeter or test light should be used, fuses can be “broken” not blown and very hard to see/tell if they are indeed good.:whisper:94

Maybe field mice or rats chewed on the wires. Check all the wires carefully.

So I checked all the fuses using a test light, and fcm you were right, fuse #14 was broken. As for the headlights, I was taking a look at the wiring coming from the bulb and found shorts on both lights. Looks like the PO did some shotty wiring. The rest of the fuses were solid. Hopefully fixing up the wiring fixes the issue.

As for the HU, I’m gonna redo the wiring as I’m guessing it’s equally as shotty as the headlights were. While I’m doing that I’ll make sure that it’s actually receiving power and go from there.

Thanks for the advice guys, hopefully after a quick run to the store I’m all set.

Just in case the radio wiring needs to be redone http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf :whisper:94

After a little soldering and some new bulbs she’s all ready to go. Thanks for the help guys.
