Headlights don't work, only brights, and fog problem

To start off, I installed the “ebay” one pieces (not the halos) about a year ago. Everything was fine, but after a while my pass. side headlight went out and would come back on if I jiggled it a bit. I was using the 9004s, plugged the harness the new headlights used into my stock one. Eventually it just went out.

Then my fog lights quit working one day out of nowhere. I got them to come on today after I replaced the fuse - but I should say only the driver’s side one came on. I put brand new bulbs in them a few days ago, and all of the wiring has been checked. The switch works. Obviously, because the one is coming on. Is there something I’m missing?

I noticed with my headlight issue, if I turned the brights on, both lights came on. The other day, the other headlight went out, but the brights still worked. I thought this was the switch, so I got one out of the junkyard and it made no difference. I replaced both fuses even though they looked good. What else could it be? A fried harness? I’ve heard of this happening from those ebay lights, but would my brights still work if that was the case?

BTW, I changed back to stock lights a few days ago.

Do you have a multimeter or 12V test light?

If not go and buy one, you can get a meter for $20 or a 12V test light for $2.

You are going to have to test to see how far the power from the switch is getting, you are correct, if one light works the switch is not the problem.

So I understand…

You had the eBay lights and you used adapter harnesses to plug them into the stock plugs, is that correct?

You have reinstalled the stock head lights, but still have the same problems, is that correct?

You said, “I noticed with my headlight issue, if I turned the brights on, both lights came on. The other day, the other headlight went out, but the brights still worked.” are saying that both the high and low beams were on at the same time?

What was the wattage of the head light bulbs, [the 9004s you used in the eBay one piece head lights]? 94

Yes, I had the ebay lights’ harness plugged into the stock one, and at first I used the 9007s, which I swapped the wires for…then after a few months I went back to 9004, and swapped the wires back. I have always been using Silverstars - I think it’s stock wattage? Yes, I put the stock 3 pieces back in thinking it would help but nothing has changed. Yes, the high beams work just fine.

Check for power at the two low beam fuses, both test tips, [when low beams are on]. 94

Ok, I’m gonna have to get a multimeter. Are those harnesses that Autozone sells any good? i couldn’t find any harnesses for the headlight on the dealer’s site…

Are those harnesses that Autozone sells any good?
I do not know, I have never used them, we build our own harnesses, everything from sub harnesses to complete dash and engine bay harnesses. 94

You sell harness for the DA?

We could, but mostly we make harnesses for custom cars, hot rods and race cars… http://airwolfeautoair.com/Rides.html 94

Ah well, I’ll see what I can find. It might take me til this weekend as I don’t have much time to work on the car during the week. Just have to hope my high beams don’t go out too or I’ll be driving with one yellow fog light.

When I got my integra, I was wondering why the high beam would light up only when everything was wired properly. When I looked at the bulb closely. I realized one of the filaments had a little piece broken off. There are 2 filaments, one for high beam and one for low beam? I’m guessing the low beam part broke off.

Maybe, I will take a closer look at the bulbs - but that doesn’t explain why the pass. side would light up if I jiggled the harness…
