Do we need our heat shield on?
What are the possible damages or effects of taking it off, mine is annoying me big time.
Thanks
Mike

I was wondering the same thing. I’m not so worried about things getting hot as I am about dirt and sand getting to the shifter and the shifter linkages.
which one? Below the car or in the engine bay?
Exhaust
The one below the car, above a mojority of the exhaust system.

I had mine removed and a straight pipe welded from the cat to the bend in the exhaust removing the resonator. I haven’t noticed any problems including heat.
as far as dust and dirt and water, my civic didn’t have a heat shield covering the shifter bottom from the factory. Actually when my heat shield on my teg was removed I could see where moisture was building up under it making the shifter bolts rusty. They were not like that on the other exposed bolts.
i had to cut a peice of it out to put in a short shifter and i see no probs. also some exh. shops rip that ish off.
