Heater blower will not turn on.

I had absolutely no problem with it a while ago. The blower worked on all settings, now, for some reason, doesn’t turn on at all, and every single fuse is good, including the under dash 40.

It worked great before, with no problems. Car is an RS though, so no AC, just heat and vent, but just last night, went to turn it on, and nothing.

Totally stumped. I can’t believe the blower itself is bad, as the thing was never used that much, and the car only has 155,xxx miles.

Any thoughts?

If 1 through 4 switch doesn’t work, then its probably a bad blower motor. If number 4 is the only one thats blowing, then thats a bad blower resistor. You said fuse 40 is good right?

Yea it is. It’s just odd, I mean last time I drove it, all 4 settings worked great. =\

Check for 12V+ at the blower motor plug.94

Well whilst driving at night, I turned the dial, and the gauges dimmed slightly, so that means it’s getting power, just no fan.

Sorry to bump, but better than making a new topic.

None of you would think the blower motor from a DC chassis integra would work in ours, would you?

helo im having this problem mines only blows! When on the 4 speed the 1-3 dont do nothing??? Were is this resistor locatged? I have a 1993 integra ls thank you if you could help… Also when i connect my radio the brake light and interior fuse blews up?? Can this be the issue???

IS THE BLOWER RESISTOR THE #40 FUSE? UNDER THE DASH? THE GREEN ONE?

A friend had the same problem with a blower motor. First thing’s first, don’t try to turn it on anymore. She fried her motor (was about $50 to replace, if I remember correctly). The problem turned out to be mice that had made a nest over a weekend.

They get in from the holes that lead to around the top of the front wheels, which leads them under the cowl. Then, it’s just a short drop to a perfectly sized place to build a new home. :frowning: Your problem could be debris built up as well.

Anyway, you’re going to have to remove the blower box, and it is a pain. You have to take out a bunch of crap because of poor design, and then the thing has to be wiggled and moved like a puzzle to get it out. Getting it back in is just as much of a pain. So take it out, take it apart fully, and clean it all. Then test to make sure all the settings work, then put it back together.

Unfortunately, you aren’t done yet. Now comes the real pain. You have to remove both cowls (and if they weren’t leaking before, they will be now). So either buy more faulty parts to replace the original faulty parts, or buy a tube of caulking before you start. I wrote a little more about this in my post about leaks I couldn’t fix (and I eventually did fix that one).

But once the cowls are off, you’re going to have to get some wire mesh with holes about .75 in^2, no bigger, but a little smaller might work, too. The point is to have them small enough to keep mice out, but large enough to let small sticks and seeds through without building up. This mesh needs to be at least on both ends of under the cowl, where the water drains out. I also put some over the blower box intake as well. And I used some ‘3m yellow glue’ to stick it to the metal and plastic. After it dried, it held very well, and I’m sure it won’t come off. Some shoe goo also might work.

Then just replace the cowls (whichever way you prefer).

Now, you’re problem is solved and prevented from reoccurring.

I know it’s not mice. Our neighborhood is filled with cats, and I’ve never even seen a mouse around here in the 11 years I’ve lived here.

Another question though, are the EF chassis Honda blower motors the same as ours?

just a thought

Why wont you just go buy a new one at an auto parts store? Its only $40 and saves you a lot of time and money. Instead of figuring out if an ef or dc one will work. and then going out because you got a used one.

Because I’m out of funds atm, and am waiting on people to pay up what they owe.

Where is this resistor located at? I have only step working, 1-3 does not work.

its located on the blower motor housing. pretty hard to miss, only 2 plugs there, 1 to the resistor and 1 to the blower motor.

Thanks for the info. Any idea how much the part costs?

Its been awhile since i did this but I think if you just take out the glove box you’ll see it, the resistor is right behind there. oem resistor is like $30 on ebay i think.

Thanks. Will tinker with it this weekend when I tackle the water leak.

what about if my 4th speed is not working and 1-3 is working properly? a bad resistor also?
