koo man welcome to the community. i watched your video. quite honest but thats good cuz too many people think they know whats up.
First suggestion i would make, is read old articles from g2ic.com and honda-tech.com. they have articles on everything you want to know. it takes time but before you know it youll be a pro. As for that motor, if it is from a civic si; its a B16A2. Which is ok, no torque but good top end.
JDM is nice but JDM is the new RICE lol. that dont mean you cant do JDM but just remember everybodies doing it too. your cars un-riceable. which is good. just go to junkyards and get new bumpers then have your buddy paint the car. theres alot you can do or learn, you just gotta put in the effort and somebody will help.
buy the chilton book for the car. itll teach you alot of what you need to know to do the basic stuff. as for anything else good luck with your build.
hey thanks man… I did try to look up stuff as far as the side skirts and rear bumper issue im stumped on. I also kept searching on google for it as well. I just dont want to order mugen side skirts then get a WW rear RS bumper and it look all jacked up along with the JDP front lip… What flows the best with a jdp front lip if I dont have side skirts or a stock rear bumper?
Commented on your video.
If the block has B18A1 on it, but the head is clearly a VTEC head, then someone did the common LS/VTEC conversion. If done right, it is a potent and reliable setup. However, seeing what the previous owner did to the body, I’d be worried about how well the motor was put together. They probably used the cylinder head from a Civic Si. After you get the car looking the way you want it, or at least de-riced a bit if you’re truly unhappy with it’s current appearance, I’d look into doing a good clean swap of some kind. Any OBD1 motor will pretty much drop in with little effort. I’m doing a JDM B18C (Sir-G spec with LSD trans) swap in my DA as we speak. It is going very smoothly. I just wish I had more time to work on it. Should be done some time this week. If you ever have questions, feel free to ask.
Do the car the way you want, man. Don’t hop on a bandwagon because others look good doing it. Some of the nicest cars I’ve ever seen “belonged” to no particular trend. They were simply done to the owner’s desires. Find what you think looks best, and knock yourself out.
There are numerous threads in this forum, and others, that show plenty of visual options for DA Integras. Just look around, see what you like the best, and feel free to ask us where to find good deals, etc. I don’t like asking for opinions on parts, etc. because, I live by this phrase: “Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one.”
As far as the vid goes, also. Koni Yellows are shocks, and Ground Control are sleeve type coil-overs. They are a GREAT setup for any kind of driving. I have had them for about 3 years now. Probably the 2nd best modification I’ve done. The going rate for the setup is in the $800 range. So, they aren’t exactly cheap. But, when it comes to something that effects the way my car drives along the road, etc. I won’t settle for anything less than 100% peace of mind, so I buy top quality parts. There are some parts that aren’t any better than others in the grand scheme of things (intakes, etc.) but suspension components are an area I wouldn’t “cheap out” on.
Hey thanks imcnblu! Yeah Ive seen many pics of dudes rides on here and i like all of em. I really like the one dude that has that white teg with the 15" gold axis it sits pretty low. but in all honesty theres so many DA’s on here I like Im just kinda run with mine. My main concern at the moment is getting it clean. pretty much matching a front lip to flow with unknown side skirts to a different rear bumper. iim prolly just gonna do WW RS side skirts and WW RS rear bumper so everything flows… or just stock rear bumper if I can find one! Other than that Yeah def the suspension is what Im going to do. When I do go to GC’s website and look for a setup its says 350 for GC’s with Koni yellows.? is that per unit? kinda confused, sorry for the noobism! I guess my question is as far as suspension goes going that route. would I order 4 units? haha. i feel retarded… guess i gotta learn somehow.
welcome and good luck with the car man ! about the GC’s, you’ll just have to order one as they come in a set of 4. then all you need to do is buy a set of koni yellows and that’ll take you one big step ahead in suspension lol.
the rims dont look that bad, i would definitely get stock bumpers and slam it ASAP get ground controls, they ride great
The motor’s clean looking! As for the side skirts, a lot of people choose 96-00 civic sideskirts. Jdp front lip with the sides, and stock rear bumper and maybe if you would like it, is the 94-95 accord rear lip. That would flow nice. Even though I’ve seen it done a few times. Besides the jdp lip, its cost effective too. As to suspension, Ground Controls with Koni Yellows are definitely the best option for slamming. Gonna be costly, but worth it. The rims are pretty nice. And those headlights… I would say go stock, or you could follow the crowd and score some JDM 1 piece headlights; whichever you prefer. You’re off to a good start; saving another DA from hell. Hahaha
Haha Thanks
Welcome aboard! You are now with the coolkids, LOL
Welcome aboard, and I hope that your research on G2IC and other sources becomes very valuable to you! It appears that you have a close circle of friends that are guiding you in the right path. De-Ricing your car is definitly a first step as well as the suspension. Of course, I know you are ready to put it in the paint shop. The rims are ok, but consider going to your local salvage yard to find some stock wheels (as well as other stock pieces needed replacing) and hub caps until you decide on the wheels you find to your liking.
Afterward, just keep researching for about a year and stack your money for this project. By this time next year, I’m most confident that you will have a pretty good idea of how you envision your Integra, and with the knowledge you have learned throughout that time will make for a successful build that can be respected. It will all be well worth the wait. Just be patient and take your time. Remember, “knowledge is key”. It seems you are not shy at letting us know that you are a novice at all this, but seek answers. Keep asking questions (if the answer is not in the search engine), and learn more.
Best of luck to you. I’ll be keeping a close eye on your project.
