Long time lurker, first time poster. Been restoring a 93 ls for about a year now, all while being my daily (also own a tundra, is300 and a harley) but lately driving it without a working radio or speakers finally got to me, so I purchased some “upgrades”.
I decided to go with component speakers in the front and everywhere I search nothing but dead links and broken pics. Where are yall installing yalls tweeters at? I was thinking in the door panel however open to suggestions. Pics would be nice, everybody likes pics.
Welcome! So I’ve seen 3 locations for tweeters. I don’t have pix at the moment.
Either side of the dash clock (the member actually cut holes in dash). But I felt that you lost the stereo separation.
Using a mount cup, on top of the door panel, directly next to the plastic where the side mirrors mount. My wife had this setup for a while, but after years of opening/closing the door, the mount broke.
Using a mount cup, on the dashboard, by the A and B pillars. This is now how she has it setup, and I can provide a pic later. It’s been like this for probably 5+ years. No issues. I will admit it doesn’t look “integrated” though, but seems like a good compromise.
I mount mine on the mirror cover at the top of the door panel and cover with soeaker grill cloth. I use 1 inch mb quart tweeters so they can be as flush as possible without hitting the wires for the mirrors. Would post pics but i can’t post them anymore on this site lol
