My idle is really bad and it stalls sometimes so I was checking my fuel injectors by pulling up a spark plug wire. #1 and #2 cylinders didn’t do much difference when pulled up but #3 and #4 cyl stalled it immediately. So I figured the first 2 fuel injectors are clogged, but since I did that the car won’t start. I just replaced the fuel filter but it didn’t make a difference. What should I do? Any ideas? TIA
sounds to me that you need to replace your plug wires or cap and rotor. you probably fouled your plugs when you pulled the wires off. take them out and clean the tips.
Sorry I forgot to say that I have new plugs/wires/cap/rotor. I’m thinking since there is no sign of engine life when I crank it, it might be the coil, ignitor, or main fuel relay. Also I was going to check the injector resistance, but I can’t get any of the electrical connections off. All it does is wiggle the injector and fuel leaks out everywhere. It seems like the injector will break if I use any more force. Please help
Ok, I just got a new battery, still the same. How do you check for spark? Would the coil or ignitor short out by pulling spark plug wires??
help
U check for spark by pulling out 1 of the spark plug wire and holding a screw driver in between the wire and the plug…have someone crank the car for u…if u have spark u will c it jump onto the screwdriver.
BTW since u pulled out the wires and put them back and ur car wont start…did u put the wires in the correct order? I know, its a simple question but sometimes its the most simple thing that people forget.

Yes, I put the wires back in the right order. I just checked the resistance of the coil and its within specs. The only thing is that the ‘secondary winding terminal’ is pretty corroded on the inside. There is a small cylinder of metal inside the coil that is loose. Meaning I could take it out. If I don’t have any spark, what are the first things to check? Fuses? Thanks for your help.
Check the starter fuse, check the main relay and check your fuel pump. you should hear a hum coming from your pump as soon as you turn the ignition switch.
Ok I don’t have spark. The starter would be good because it turns the engine when I crank. I did the helms test on the ignitor and there is voltage to the ignitor and the wire from the ignitor to the coil is good, and the coil has continuity between the two primary terminals. My only question is the there is suppose to be continuity between the the white/blue wire (goes to the ignitor)and the body ground and there isn’t. What does this mean? Do I need a new ignitor?
i had the same prob. and i tested and replaced the igniter with a blasterss coil and mod. distributor cap and the car runs great now i don’t know the answer to your wire Q b/c i have a 92 and the dist. are a littlee diff. but for 70$ it was definetely a good mod. and is and cheaper than factory igniter.
