ok, so here’s the deal. Last weekend we installed my act clutch, and it’s been driving fine since. Today, I woke up and my car started fine; i went like 4 other places and it started fine. Went to a friends house and when I tried to start it to leave, it turned over and over, but did not start. Waited for a while and tried again, still nothing.
so later tonight we went back to it to try and figure out what the problem was. We thought it might be the fuel pump. Turned the key to on and didn’t hear the fuel pump click (your supposed to hear it click, I think). You can hear it click on my friends SI. So we are thinking it’s either the fuel pump, or fuel pump relay.
My question is, has anyone else had this problem? how did they fix it? and also any other solutions to my problem. TIA
you should hear the fuel pump ‘hissss’ from the back of the car… If she doesn’t run, it’s your fuel pump or mostly your Main Fuel Relay… If your friend has an SI, I’m pretty sure they are the same part, just borrow his to try it… Also check fuse #24 called alternator solenoid valve or something like this, she also controls the Main Fuel Relay and ECU…
Take a look at your check engine light when you put the key to the ON position and tell me what she does…
ok, so we checked the fuel pump relay (with an xtra one my friend gave me off his parts car). it still didn’t make the car start. I can hear the buzzing of the fuel pump when I turn the key to the on position.
answer: the check engine light goes on then goes off. What does that mean?
I called my friend that works at honda and he said it may be the coil or the ignitor. I bought the coil today, but didn’t have the tools at hand to take the distributor apart.
It’s been a week and I’m starting to get very frustrated with this. I don’t understand why it was working fine and just shitted out. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix it? Do you think the coil may be the problem or just the distributor itself?
the light going off is fine. the only thing u need to take the dist. apart is a screw driver and probably a hex key. it could be the ignitor or coil. check it with a multimeter.
it was my coil. I melted it and the pin from the distributor cap was busted in half and melted inside the coil. very interesting. I have no idea how I could have done that.
