Help diagnose brake feedback / performance

My search didn’t bring up anything near this, but it’s hard to describe anyway.

When comparing the brake feel between my Integra (Brembo cross drilled rotors) and my wife’s (Brembo blanks), my car’s brakes are much “smoother feeling” than hers. When I press the brake pedal quickly (as if to avoid hitting a car stopping suddenly in front of me), the car doesn’t jerk suddenly when the pads are applied like my wife’s. As such, it doesn’t feel as if it will stop as quickly. Her brakes feel much more firm and grippy. Is this a symptom of worn brake lines or brake rotors? Just a symptom of crossdrilled vs the increased surface area of blanks? My lines are original and rotors were last replaced about 10 years ago. I’m pretty sure they’re within acceptable limits but I haven’t checked recently. I’m also certain there isn’t any air in the lines and the brake fluid was replaced about 2 years ago.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I’m assuming both cars are Integras?

  • what pads does each car have?
  • what rear brake setup does each have?
  • what suspension setup does each have?

Pads are stock semi-metallic for both. I don’t think they’re OEM.
Rear brake setup is the same semi-metallic with cross drilled on mine and blanks on hers.
Suspension on mine: Koni Yellows + Ground Control springs. Hers is KYB shocks on no-name coilovers (I think).

swap out new brake fluid and bleed it really well…

when was the last time that was done?

Also check the slide pins on the calipers make sure they are nicely lubed and are not binding.

Update?

It’s been too freaking cold, I can’t go in my garage. I plan on getting some insulation in there in the next few weeks and buying a heater.

I believe it could be the fact that there is more contact material on your wife’s rotors. Yours are drill slotted and have less contact material. That’s the only thing I can think of.
