!!!Help I need ECU HElp!!!!

I bought an ECU chip on ebay and had it installed (professionaly). I pluged it in and connected pos terminal on battery but I got the check enging light and couldn’t pass 3k on the rpm’s. I figured i got a bad chip, so I had the original chip re-installed by the same tech. I still have the same problem now, with the original chip: Check engine light and can’t pass 3k rpms. My question is “Did I fry my ecu or am I doing something wrong?” Please help… also if the ECU is fried what does a replacement run for on average. thanks

You didnt fry it, the installer fried it. It is in ‘limp home mode’ thats why it wont go over 3k. It is running on the the backup rom. Perhaps there is a short between one of the connections or maybe the installer broke one of the traces on the board when he was removing the stock chip (if you have a 90 or 91) Take the computer back to him and tell em to fix it or else you will need a new one, stock pr4 ecu’s dont cost too much, you could probabyy pick one up for $100 or so, maybe less.

thanks for reply

Thanks I think I just going to have to get a new ecu.
