that is most likely jsut your radiator fan being on and blowing all the air air inside the hood out. since the crack in the hood is small most of it still gets blown down in the bottom.
…true, true…
so where is the IAC?
Idle Air Control?
yeah … thats what i’m wondering. you’re from boca? i’m leaving to go there tonight!!! got a wedding to go to this weekend there. not taking the teg though ---- keeping the miles down and going with my parents.
sweet, where in boca?
i can crash the wedding, jk
but where is spring hill?
is that in mid florida?
it’d be nice to meet some g2ic people alreadY!
go ahead and call me at 487-6273 if you get a chance.
cya
by the way, if by chance, you see me…
i’ve got a red coupe (r-63), clear corners, i’ve got my bumper lenses and fogs rewired, so i normally run those at night, and they’re very distinctive. maybe we can get a mini meet setup, email, call, whatever, cya man.
My teg used to idle similar to that. 5 spd. It was the Alternator. When I stepped on the brakes, at a stop, I could watch the rpm drop a little. Turn on the stereo, headlights, foglights and step on the brakes all at the same time, and it would drop down to 200 or so. There is a guy that sells 130 amp alternators on ebay for a buy it now price of $180. I would look to him for a fix to your problem. Also, I don’t know from first hand experience, but it seems to me that if your adjustable Cam Gears are set wacky, or really aggressive, it could make your idle lope.
<---------- so my assumption was correct, the alternator.
I will let you guys know. I am getting my alt rewound to somewhere b/w 130 and 170A by a local shop. I should have the work done within a few weeks. I also have this idle problem )and I have abused my alt with a near-competition grade stereo system).
The IAC is located right behind the tb (to the upper left of the plenum facing ther firewall). You will see 2-3 (?) bolts (10 or 11mm) and two lines going into the bottom of it. When you pull it off, spray some air intake cleaner on the inlet ports and on the catch screen and let it soak a few minutes… then rev the engine hard a few times…
Also… have a friend turn on the AC or engage the brake booster while you hand is on the IAC. Did it click?? If not, you may me damn near solving your problem.
HTH
Andrew.
x4evawizex ------ spring hill is about 45 mins. north of tampa(west coast). boca was pretty tight, but i did’nt see anything except one hooked up civic, an ugly ass riced out 86ish ford probe, and a shiz load of stock supras. i was let down. but any way i stayed at the residence in off of congress in the boca commerce center. you near there or know where i’m talking about? (p.s. - it took me 3.5 hrs to get there from where i live)
yeah, civics are big here, especially ricey ones. you saw stock supras? nice, i never see em, i’m in west boca, you were over in east boca.
you planning on coming to boca anytime soon, tell me and we’ll hook up for a some spins.
later
na i won’t be down there anytime soon. i got relatives down there i hardly ever see. i don’t know what part of boca i was in. do you know where congress (st. ave. rd. i don’t know) is? like i said, i stayed at the Residence Inn in the boca commerce center.
i dont know of exactly where that is, but it’s in west boca so i’m sure i could find it…
hey guys - thanks for your help!!! i just cleaned the iac and throttle body. it seems to have worked. i guess i’ll find out once i drive it a little more:ok:
I tried adjusting IAC/idle screw already, no luck.
Please let me know what happens after you replaced alternator.
Thanks.
