help me!!!, radiator removal problem!!!!

Okay, I’m replacing my radiator in my 91’ GS and it has a auto tranny and a/c. I’m having a really hard time removing the a/c fan on the drivers side. I drained the radiator, removed the top hose and then pulled out the radiator fan. I unbolted the little stays for the a/c lines and then unbolted my a/c fan. When I went to pull it out there are wires attached to the fan housing at the bottom that wont let me pull it out. I cant get my hands in there fromthe top because of the a/c lines, and it isnt reachable from the bottom either. The fan wont budge until I get those wires off the fan. How the hell do you do that?? I have a helms and it doesnt even show the wires exist!!! I dont know what the hell I’m supposed to do to detach the wires and the fact I cant even touch them isnt helping. Help!!! I need to get this done tonight because I have work in the morning!!!

The wires for the fan power you mean? there should be either a green or clear round shaped plug. it should be the same as the first fan you removed. Its been awhile since ive had mine out…

Yeah, but how the hell do you get your hands under the fan with all the a/c lines in the way? I can see the plug but no way my hands are getting down there.

Also, I tried undoing the lines that go to the auto transmission from the radiator and those are all bolted to the bottom of the radiator. So can I remove the 2 lines where they are attached to the transmission and unbolt them from the radiator after I pull it out?? Because I dont see how you are supposed to unbolt those bolts from the bottom, there is no room for a wrench down there.

Not sure if you are still working on this, but did you try putting the car on stands and removing the splash/dust shields down below? Also, you may want to drain your trans if you haven’t done so already. I know on other cars I have, if you mess with those lines w/o draining the trans you will get 1 huge mess. I have a 5sp not an auto, so I am just trying to give you other ideas.

Ubolt all the places were the a/c lines are held down. Those lines are pretty flexible so you shouldnt have a problem just pushing them out of your way. And as far as the clip on the bottom, I know what a pain that can be to get to. Unbolt the a/c fan and kinda pull it up a little bit and rotate it to the side a little. That way you can reach the bottom of it easier to unclip the connector.

And as far as the auto lines, when I did my brothers radiator thats how I disconnected them. I couldnt reach the bottom well enough to unbolt those lines where they attach to the radiator. And if you unbolt them from the top by the bleeder valve you wont loose much ATF because your taking the whole hose out instead of unbolting it from the bottom. When you unbolt it from the bottom thats when you loose alot of ATF.
